I work at a job that has probably positioned my spine out of allignment over the years. I run a converyor belt in a factory. Anyways I have just started to work out at a gym because I have gained weight. When walking on the tread mill (not running) I have noticed my right leg feels like it is under greater pressure than the left leg and my right knee is getting sore.
Any tips or hints to keep my leg from bothering me?

It is just my right leg. My legs are strong. I have an allignment issue. It feels as if my right leg is longer than the left.

Try a knee brace that has side supports. I have arthritis in my right knee, I'm 30. I use a knee support that has metal support braces on both sides of the knee as well as a hole for proper positioning of the kneecap. It makes a world of difference. You can also take an anti-inflammatory such as Advil before your work out. It wouldn't hurt for you to get it checked out by a doctor too. Good luck. And take it easy on that knee.

Hi- I live with CHRONIC knee pain due to a severe injury over 20 years ago. What I do to help ease the pain is utilize a GOOD Knee Immobilizer @ times I am working. You can purchase one of these @ most any Pharmacy- even Walmart, and it is an excellent investment. Make sure the immoblizer is one with an inset on both sides of the knee. In addition, buy a product that has a circular site for ur knee itself. When @ rest, elevate this knee, and use ice for ur aching knee. If you don't have an ice bag, frozen veggies are an excellent makeshift icebag. Taking up to 800 mg of ibuprophen every 6 hours helps, also, as it is an anti-inflammatory medication. In my case, I finally had to go to a Pain Management Clinic, where I receive Injections that are long acting agents to help with my chronic pain. There are days it is darned near impossible to get up in the morning due to this danged knee. Again, this was a result of a 20 year injury I sustained. You may want to ask around, too, for a proper shoe to wear, which may aide in the way you have to stand during work hours. In any case, this should help you with the leg pain, also. You should not do squats if your knee is bothering you as it puts a large amount of pressure on your knee. I recently finished physical therapy for my knee and they made me do leg stretches, mainly hamstring stretches because they were really tight. It does not sound like much but the muscles around my knee were weak and that made it easier for me to hurt my knee in the first place. Google leg stretches and pick out the ones that will not cause you to strain your back or your knee.

Jogging can tighten up the muscles in your lower back and when they are tight they can press onto the nerves leaving the spine going to the legs to send pains to the legs. to get rid of the pain you have to free up your back muscles to release the pressure on the nerves and here's how to free them up: Back: (do while sitting on a chair) Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front, and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm as straight as possible. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, then release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Yes, see your doctor before continuing your workouts. There could be another problem which you cannot determine without a doctors diagnosis. If all is well, then stretch thoroughly prior to workouts and maintain a healthy diet. Stretching will provide a wider range of motion for your muscles, tendons and ligaments. thus, eliminating strain. Proper nutrition will assist with healing and proper muscle functions.

What you can do is try gain muscle in your legs. You can do this by doing squat and many other leg works outs. Now this will start the healing. what you should also do is ice you leg once a week after you work out. This should help you keep you body more in shape and safer from getting hurt.
