So, I want to make a really good drink that tastes really good for my man this labor day wknd b/c he doesn't drink very often, any suggestions?

How about a top shelf Margarita? You can make it with lime juice and simple syrup or just use frozen concentrated limeade. I use Sauza Hornitos, Grand Marnier or orange/cognac liqueur usually cost about half the price and is very simple in flavor profile. You can substitute any high quality Tequila for the Hornitos. Use a fresh lime to moisten the rim of the glass before dipping in margarita salt or use kosher salt.

I like the idea of the flavored vodka with sprite. It is yummy and smooth. I disgree about the rum for a newbie. If you decide to have a few more and tie one on, rum is hard for a hangover! OUCH!

If he's not a seasoned drinker I'd go with Malibu Rum and Pineapple juice. It's sweet and it's simple.

Fruity Rum drinks are good for new drinkers. They dont taste strong but still have a kick.

If it's a sunny hot day, try gin and ginger ale. Simple and refreshing.
Vodka + sprite suggested by the person above me would be quite similar and also good. 'Absolutly' try it if you can afford good vodka. If not, I recommend sticking with gin. Cheap gin is better than cheap vodka, IMO. However, I do know that a lot of people can't abide by gin.
