Well first off you should be happy you have a father period, not a lot of us can say the same. You just need to have a talk with him, tell him you want a good relationship where you can talk about anything with him but that right now he gets mad right away so it's pulling you away from him, unless he wants his little girl to elope with some loser he needs to relax and be cool. Once he sees you talking to him as an adult maybe he'll start treating you like one.

Is your Dad under pressure at work, having health problems, or is he generally an unhappy person. You will have to let him rant and rave and when he is calm and in a good mood, ask him why he gets so mad over little things, and if there is anything that you could do to make it better. Maybe he doesn't realise what he does to everyone around him.

Have one to one talk with him. Tell him what bothers you. Ask him what's really wrong. He might be having problems at work or with his finances or generally stressed or depressed.

If the talk didn't resolve anything, have a third person get involved in the conversation to resolve the issue. Preferably your mom or someone close.

If the problem persists, go to a professional councilor.

If he is abusive in any ways, physical or mental, tell someone you trust or your teacher. If you feel threatened, call a cop.

Hey sounds JUST like my dad.
The only thing to do is ignore him and just dont give in to his temper tantrums. I do and then just walk away. Don't give him the satifaction at knowing he is mad.

Tell him he is blowing this out of propution and walk away. It's about all you can do.

move out is probably the best thing... but you may not be able to do that... counseling? for yourself and maybe as a family.. would be a shame if you had to suggest it.. guess you could try and do everything right and attempt not to make him mad, but that might drive you mad!

There are some people who are mad in general. No matter what you do, it won't change their attitude. So don't bother yourself. When he yells, don't listen and don't show you're affected by this.

Tell Mom. If that doesn't work, then tell Aunt or Grandma.
