my orthodonist gave me this mouthgaurd that i have to wear r 4 hours a day, and while i sleep. i can't talk, or even open my mouth when i have it in. my teeth won't get straight if i don't wear it. just the thought of having perfect teeth isn't enough motivation for me the wear that thing everyday! what can i do to motivate myself? NOTE: i'm jobless, so don't say something like "treat yourself to a spa day" or whatever. thanks :]

This is called maturity and discipline. You have to decide if you are going to grow up and do the right thing, or remain a child and bear the consequences of such a choice.

I dont know about motivation but i would break down the 4 hours into more managable increments. Eg. when you get up, put in that thingy while you shower and get ready for the day for about an hour. While you are sitting at the computer looking for jobs, put it in again for another hour, and while you watch tv, clean house or do some other chores when nobody is around another 2 hours. It may help you get the 4 hours daytime wear in and make it less of a chore.

Because you are jobless, this is a good time to wear this mouth guard. You said you couldn't talk or open your mouth when you have it in. This is just the time in your life that you should be doing this. It would be even more difficult if you had a job. If you do get a job, you can wear it after work when you come home.

"The_ only_ solo" said it best. I'm assuming that since you are jobless that your parents paid for the visit to the orthodontis and the mouthguard, and/or they are paying for the insurance for this, so the least you can do is wear the thng. It's really not such a big deal. You should just be thankful that you are able to utilize whatever it takes to improve your teeth.

it's not such a pain. convince yourself that you can squeeze in four hours a day.. which is probably the hard part. it might be annoying to wear, even at night... but just do it. you gotta push through. it'll get easier to wear soon enough if you keep wearing it. and if your jobless, you probably didn't pay for that mouthguard. so have some respect for the people who did, and try not to waste it. plus... jumbled teeth are pretty nasty.

Look at somebody who has horrible teeth. Additionally, If you're not the one paying for it, you don't appreciate it. If it were your money, you may think differently. The mistake you cause today will cost YOU in the future.

Yeah you need to grow up and realise that sometimes we have to do things we dont like to get what we want. Your situation sounds like a good opportunity to learn this about life.

Treat yourself to something cheaper: ice cream, chocolate, a movie, new pair of jeans, etc.
