I am looking for entry level position. I want to call some different companies to get the name of who I should mail my info to, what form I should mail it in etc. None of these companies are advertising that they are even hiring. What is the best way of calling and saying I want a job with you without sucking up or sounding desperate?

Here's how you call a company to find out about employment.

1. Get the phone number, either by looking it up in the yellow pages or by obsessively stalking their employees.

2. Pick up the phone and dial the number.

3. Talk to someone in the human resources department.

They should be able to tell you who to direct your resume to. Even if they are not hiring, you can still send in your resume and they will keep it on file in case they have any openings down the road.

Post yourself in Monster.com, describe that you are looking for an entry level position in your local area. Someone will call you.

You don't call. GO in person and fill out an application.
