You will find the longer you are around your baby the more you will learn.
If you aren't sure what to do don't be afraid to ask someone.
Find some good books on parenting and read them.
Sometimes parenting classes can help as well if you are unsure about how to raise a little one.
The more involved you are in your childs life the better for both you and your child.
Don't forget Mom needs a break from time to time as well.
Congrats on the birth of your baby, good luck and have fun...they grow up very fast!

For the first couple of years, we don't teach them anything, but they teach us a lot.

They teach us responsibility, they teach us that caring for someone that you love is done with absolutely no obligation from those that we love. They teach us that life becomes shorter when you have children, but when you have them you feel younger. They teach us patience and understanding (better to learn this part BEFORE they become teens).

They teach us that we can no longer abide by the theory of "Do what I say and not as I do", they mirror us. We learn humility, and honesty (Out of the mouths of Babes......).

They teahc us to smile again over th smallest things, to be proud over the smallest accomplishments.

They teach us that even if we don't see ourselves as perfect, they do and they love us no matter what.

Of course, they also teach us that insurance rates are higher for teen drivers, and that sometimes it takes a lot of persistence for them to prove that there REALLY is carpet in their bedroom.

They teahc us that we can impart the ability to clean, wash dishes and mow lawns, but we CANNOT impart the initiatvie to do it on their own...:)

It's a great feeling, and I have loved every second of it for the last 17 years
