I need an idea of the number of hours a tattoo similar to this will take:

Maybe not as big because I'm a female and not those exact birds but it will still be black.

I wanted to know the price so I went to my tattoo artist the other day but he wouldn't give me a definite number, though he said they would be charging per hour.

I live near Philadelphia, if this helps.

I'd also like to know the appropriate tip.

there is really no way to tell. different artists tattoo at different speeds. some are really fast and some are really slow and some in between. it also depends on the detail in the tattoo. sometimes black and grey takes longer to do than color. if you're worried about the money or whatever you may have to do it in a few sessions but i would GUESS that those could be done in two hours but that is just an educated guess only.

Maybe about 2 or 3 hours so the tip would be i heard about 20% of the price. Depending on the detail the artist has to do and the coloring it'll take longer so your best bet is saving up for the max you think it will take that way you're on the safe side and expect the worst. I think its always best to expect the worst this case the longest time and then come out with a better situation after everything is done. Let me know how it all turns out.

I'll say about $280 for both. they should only take about two hours, maybe a little less. Depending how much detail or color you want done. Have you shopped around?? Try that before you do anything..look at the artwork every artist has done and talk to them and see if they have any ideas that you might like to make it better. good luck!

if hes charging by the hour it will be about 80-100 and hour for a good artist. however dont let that sway you, i would probably take about 3 hours doing that piece. but i wouldnt charge you by the hour. it would cost you about 150- 200 dependant on the size. as far as tipping goes thats up to you, but on average for that price range $20 would be a decent tip for good work.

I would say between 3-4 hours. It depends on the artist who is doing it, and it is going to be at least $300. Tattoos are becoming more expensive as society has become more accepting of it.
