I know, it not related to religion, but I love your opinions. DOes it seem that we are sheltering our kids from too much?

It is stupid but I don't blame the schools -- I blame the Tort

They are avoiding costly lawsuits -- I'd do the same in their shoes.

This is simply part of a trend that has been developing for years. Schools have banned "dodge ball" as well because it perceived as too aggressive. It's all a result of all the school violence we're seen over the last few years... particularly since the massacre at Colombine HS. Also, I'm fairly sure they're covering their posteriors cuz they don't want to be sued if a kid gets hurt.

I got made fun of so much in school, I was the fat kid. Nobody cared, they said suck it up, and I did and I'm fine now. It's too much, they want kids to go outside and have fun instead of staying inside watching TV or playing video games, but they forbid all the fun things to do outside. There's only so long one can stand a swing or running around in circles, before kids get bored. It's a natural coming of age to get picked on. I for one think the banning of Tag, and dogdeball in schools is stupid.

This is another symptom of political correctness gone wild. Instead of dealing with someone who might have been bullying, they decided to deal with everybody. It would have made much more sense to address the actual problem child or children rather than worrying about their self-esteem and imposing this on all the children.

I have NOT been a fan of our public school system since they started spending our tax money REMOVING playground equipment, to cut down on law suits from parents whose children fell off and got hurt.

WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!? :)

There are certain institutions that are criticized more for underreacting than overreacting. So they do the CYA thing and just ban things at will. This is just such an example; when they should just go after bullying behavior, they instead just ban a perfectly good game.

Did they do away with dodgeball too?

I think it is B.S.

Like the kindergarten boy that was expelled for kissing a girl on the playground.

It is getting absurd!

It is another example of a parent that got involved with school affairs because their (obese) child was upset because he/she was too slow for the game. We are in the "everyone is a winner" generation.

You have to look at the situation in the context of which the rule applied...

If it were my child being chased by older kids, it is not tag its bullying and I'm glad this school took action..

My kids can play when they get out of school, all the tag they want before dinner and after doing homework
