Right, and the fact that you are saying "its illegal I don't care if you are right" is my point. People don't even have clear opinions anymore. They just want to follow outdated laws. Its absurd!

the only people who think marijuana should be illegal are those making a load of cash off of court costs, monthly probation fees, and mental health refferals.

For those of you who still think weed is somehow worse than alcohol and should remain illegal, just ask yourselves the question: When is the last time you heard of a man beating his wife because he was under the influence of marijuana? It's NEVER happened. The stuff does make you lazy and unproductive, but last I checked it's not our government's job to tell people how to run their personal lives. And I don't buy any of this "gateway drug" crap they like to feed kids in school today (see links below). No weed user has ever bothered or threatened me, but I've known plenty of violent drunks in my life. And while you shouldn't drive under it's influence or smoke it around other people who don't like the smell, what reason is there for banning it completely when most normal people can handle a potentially more dangerous drug like alcohol responsibly? Face it, our current drug laws are based far more on cultural bias and fearmongering propaganda than on any actual scientific evidence. Either marijuana should be made legal, or alcohol should be made illegal. Taking any other position is simply hypocritical. Personally, I think the most sensible solution is to have both of them legal, but also taxed and regulated.

Well, pandora is wrong. I think marijuana should remain illegal and I have negative 40 dollars in my cheking account.

I'd sure love to see some of that cash I'm supposed to be making.

Everyone I know who smokes pot, is tired and lazy most of the time. The relatives who smoke it don't work and frequently borrow money from the rest of the family. The teens who smoke it, whom I met in Alaska, have grand dreams of changing the world, but no motivation to do anything about it. They just need to find a place to "light up."

Pot was, in fact, a gateway drug for my big brother.

Nope, depite living below the poverty line, I'll always vote to keep marijuana illegal.

Alcohol is only worse because it is legal. If we make marijuana legal then people will not be so careful as they are now. The smoke is killer on the lungs and it will double the number of highway deaths that we have now. There are so many reasons to keep it illegal. At least it is controlled now and more pure. Do you want the government to get heir hands on it, get their taxes put on it, lets talk about the programs they will want to start to help the people that get hooked, and the higher lung cancer rate, and all the other side effects that will pop up. You don't want the government involved in any part of this.

You're absurd. Any person who states marijuana does not negatively affect the body or brain has already smoked WAY too much. Lay off the pot for a day, then search the 'net and find medical journals done my private companies, universities, etc.

Marijuana smoke is does double the damage to the lungs that cigarettes do, and its not thought that marijuana is a gateway drug, but proven over and over.

For those of us who have severe allergies to the smell of burning cannibis, it becomes a problem when our neighbors decide to light up a joint in a "no smoking" building! Alcohol stays with the person who is consuming it, while the smoke from marijuana & cigarettes leeches into the air of people who would rather not be exposed to it. Serious healers know that it is far better to EAT (injest) your marijuana than to smoke it & violate your lungs on a daily basis.

Your argument doesn't make sense. I know you're trying to justify legalizing marijuana, but it sounds like you'd prefer to make alcohol illegal too.

You could, but that would be like countering stabbing someone is bad with "But shooting is worse." Besides, weed has been shown to be a gateway drug in some cases, and is proven to make people lose their memory, and just from personal experience, make them very very dumb. Alcohol just messes up your liver, and makes it so you shouldn't drive. Still bad, but not really as bad as weed, especially when you get into the powerful stuff, and not just the ditch weed.

I don't have to say "marijuana should be illegal"...it is illegal. Counter with whatever you like, you'll still get arrested for one not the other.

Call me a 'conspiracy boy' if you want, but I think that alcohol is legal BECAUSE it's worse.

Pot has benefits to your health that 'Big Pharm' doesn't want people to get for free. If alcohol had these benefits, then some company would be lobbying to criminalize it. Follow the money...anti-drug laws are backed by drug companies. They have cornered the market....
