A father asked his son where God was. The son replied he didn't know. The father told the son to fill a glass with water and salt and to leave it there over night.
The next morning the father woke the child up and told him to get the salt he put in the water. The kid went to the glass and told his father he couldn't see the salt.
The father said to taste the water from the side. The son said it was salty. The father told him to drink from the other side and the son again said it was salty. The father told him to drink from the middle and a third time the son said it was salty.
The father replied that although he could not see the salt it was still there, just like the salt we can't see God but He is everywhere.

There is a difference between diluted and disolved...
As far as the microscope yeah...but can you see DNA with the naked eye? No...not without an electron microscope...so why should I believe it's there?

..HOW do you know you can't taste God?
Maybe you've tasted God all your life so you're used to it...ever think of that? I live by a creek, I can't smell the fish smell, but someone who loves in town that comes to my house can...

Are you people stupid? Has civilization seriously reached a point of everything being literal? I anticipated a few people saying "we can see salt though" or something like that...but the majority of the people?
I wasn't comparing salt to God or saying to worship salt, It is a story saying just because you didn't see it(without a microscope) doesn't mean it's still not there...

Yet you can taste the salt...I can not detect god via taste, or any other existing sense. That...wasn't so deep. Also, by that logic, we'd be just as well off, praying to salt. After all, you /can/ at some point, see the salt. You can never see/hear/taste/touch/know of god, therefore you have a 100% better chance of your salt answering your prayers, than you do of god, answering your prayers. And the odds of the salt answering your prayers are still, zero. To give you some idea.
Deep, ain't I?
Edit: YES, the majority of people say you 'can still see, or taste the salt', and you're the only one confused. Who's stupid?

If the son has a basic knowledge of chemistry or is just a bit curious, he can heat the solution, causing the water to evaporate and leaving the salt behind. He may even get a cool popping effect from the salt. But this basic test proves that the salt is still physically there.
No such test can prove that God exists. So the father's argument doesn't hold water. And I hope the son is educated and curious enough to debunk it.

The salt is in the water, remember the father put it there. Just like some person put the stories in the Bible.
This story reminds me of my childhood, my parents forced me to consume large amounts of 'salt water' every week at the local church. But if you know anything about salt water, if one drinks too much of it, they will die of thirst.
Once I was old enough to choose, I decided to have my water purified and salt free, but often served with a twist of lemon.

At least the boy got to SEE the salt before it disolved .
If you boil the water awayand condense into a beaker , you can see the Salt again on the sides of the beaker .
Once again you can See the salt .
It has returned so ,Salt must be God .?????

I think thats a load of crap. The salt is a physical thing. The water is a physical thing. The taste is a physical thing. So is the touch of the glass on the fingertips. Therefore, the salty water is nothing more than salty water and has nothing at all to do with the existance of any god. There is evidence for the salty water, there is no evidence, whatsoever, of any god.

LOL, but if u use a microscope u can see the salt...
granted, this isnt very relative to god seeing as you cannot measure god, god is not tangible.
(you can measure the amount of salt that is in water and u can prove there is salt in water by boiling all the water out)

Wow, people are morons on here. I hear you loud and clear, sorry that athiests can't open their minds a bit.
It's kinda like the brain. I can't see the persons brain, but I know it is there. There is evidence to prove it, i.e. talking, moving, being stupid. Some have seen brains, I havn't personally seen a brain, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.
You can see God, but there is evidence that he is there, i.e. miracles, guidance, etc. Some have experienced God, I haven't yet (but I will), but that doesn't mean he doesn't exist.
Now I see why athiests can't understand parables....
God Bless and have a nice day!

You can see DNA with the naked eye, just not the double helix construction.
*edit*
You must not have done the experiment in school where you extract DNA from a strawberry. You can easily see it without a microscope. Look for this experiment online, it exists, and it's done in middleschool.

Are you telling me that you don't believe in DNA but in god?? yeah, very deep thought indeed!
