You wouldn't want to make a liar out of our Lord would you?
John 15:18-19
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Rejoice and be glad that we are called to be hated by the world... IHS Jim

I think that within the very nature of of your question the answer can be found. Here in the USA, most of us don't like people insisting that we have to believe in one thing or another. Unfortunately Christians do not seem to believe that this applies to them. They dominate our culture and politics without any regard for the people around them that may believe differently..
But mostly I think that the hositility comes from the enormous gap between what Jesus said and how you people behave. I have never seen a more warlike and intolerant people claim to be followers of someone that was not. At least in Islam their prophet allows it. Instead, the Christians fall back on the Old Testament to justify horrible deeds and terrible persecutions. Frankly, I would like to see the so-called three "great" monotheistic religions go into a field somewhere and just finish eachother off. The rest of us would live in a much better world.

Just be the best you can be according to your beliefs and don't be a cry baby or try to push your ideolisms on others. Chritians are suppose to be Christ like. Jesus roamed and talked to people and crowds gathered. He didn't go door to door trying to strong arm anyone. Christians ( actually any representative of any organization) should be living examples of their beliefs by actions/deeds and how they live their lives not by promoting their beliefs to others hoping for conversations and others salvation. If you want to emulate God's will, remember he give us a free will to do what we want. Most Christians need to spend their time becoming more devout themselves and not being a cheer leader for my soul.

"How can we end their hatred of us?"
How???
"Is there anything we can do to save their souls (and convert them into Christians) before it's too late?"
You can STOP doing this......
As if you needed to be told that, nice baiting though.

It isn't we they hate, but it is we who must suffer the rebellious wrath they hold toward God for in their heart, they know there is a God (Rom. 2:20). I consider it an honor unto God that I, as a Christian, can suffer just a bit for our Savior who suffered a lot. Those who reject Christ will do as they will and we who love Him can only do what we can. We are told to give them the good news then "shake the dust from out feet" if they do not accept it as the truth it is.

There is no liberal hostility to religious folks. There is liberal hostility to dogmatic, illogical and irrational systems of belief that deny reality.

1. Stop harassing us about converting to Christians.
2. Stop trying to make us live by your religion whether we want to or not.
3. Stop being so condescending, patronizing, rude, and arrogant.

Stop (generally speaking) hating everyone else for who they are, homosexuals in particular.
Stop juding people based on their actions.
Is it not Gods place to judge others? Are you (as a group) saying you're a better judge of others than God himself? Whatever happened to love thy neighbour and turn the other cheek?
In essence, follow the SPIRIT not necesarily the WORD of the law of the Bible.

I would suggest that the first thing that you do is stop trying to 'save their souls (and convert them into Christians)'!!!
I find it offensive that anyone would try to save me; I do not need saving, thanks very much. I have made my choice in life based on my own experiences, investigations and conclusions. Please stop trying to tell me I'm wrong.
BTW I consider myself to be conservative, not liberal.

They're stupid enough already. No need to corrupt their minds further with religion.
