Generally men are competitive by nature. So there are some men that compete within the church. But as we walk with Christ and mature as people, things like that tend to fall away. There will never be a church of more than 100 members that doesn't have a competitive man or two. Just part of our design. In fact, most men are competitive in some area, whether job, money, sports or religion.

I observed some of this when I used to be a christian.

Opinionated: Nobody needs the 'help of the lord' to overcome this - age will do the trick quite nicely in most cases.

Not that competitiveness is a bad thing in itself, as long as it isn't take to extremes.

On the other hand, the christian ideal of humility doesn't work either. If everyone prefers other opinions over their own, nobody will ever offer an opinion. That would make it very easy for an unscrupulous egotist to lead them around like sheep.

Yes esspesilly when it comes to trying to date the single women in church,

I have had also other men try and compete for my ministry, but they went about all the wrong way, they tried to undermine my ministry, it almost worked untill I caught on to what he was doing.

It is a shame that christian men do this, so we just need to pray for them.

Within any church, there will be some competativeness found.
The proper and appropriate attitude, according to the New Testament, is to be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself.

Its human nature and should be avoided. Mature Christians have overcome such trivial attitudes and actions with the help of the Lord.

My friend it happened to Jesus' disciples so if it happened to them, it still happens now. (hummm)

However, as we the Christian men grow and mature in the Lord and submit our lives to him it then replaced by true brotherly love and we end up preferring one another as the Scripture declares.
