Assalam alikum w/r w/b, sister !!
I can understand where you are coming from after "Julia Jet" posted that question about you....
I often find myself asking the same thing. People who post quotes of the Quran, first of all, don't have a reliable source (they often get it from other Y.A members, and God knows where they got those quotes from)
And secondly, they are 99% of the time, taken out of context..
It is sadenning that the media and extremists have garnered so much negative publicity for Islam... and now we are the ones who are cleaning up their mess...

I see it on here quite a bit myself, and it's rather distressing.
Anyone who looks into Islam any deeper than finding a few one sentence quotes, would see that most of Islam is a great religion. Anyone could just as easily thumb through the Bible and find just as many passages that seem to justify horrible things. But you don't see many Christians killing in His name in the modern age.
The problem is that that is all that is shown of Islam, a few crazies that 'Praise Allah' before doing exactly what Allah forbids. The only thing that I can fault mainstream, tolerant Islam for is not speaking out louder against the militants. Of course I don't believe that most muslims condone what they do, but perhaps those misguided ones would see how wrong they were if they heard the louder voice of tolerant Islam.
I almost see it as Islam is going through their own Dark Ages right now. Christianity had its Dark Ages during the Crusades and Inquisition era. Islam is having the same problem now. Some people abuse their power in God's name for their own gains, be it the Catholic Church in that day, or some Muslim Clerics today.

I am not anti-islmaist. I just disagree with some of the horrible acts written in your books that you cannot deny. Having actually read them, and not seen them on TV, I feel that any religion that instructs its supporters to hate non-muslims is pretty daft. Simiraly, Christianity has gone through a similar phase, with Christians unable to accept other religions but thankfully, its quited down recently. I also do not like it when Muslims act with a manner of intolerance. Prevident on Yahoo Answers, It infuriates me when muslims say things like "Islam, the one TRUE religion".
As a atheist, I do not hate muslims. I have muslim friends and the majority are peaceful people who dont actually abide by the book completely. Sure the fanatics piss everyone off.
Religion should all be banned if you ask me
I agree with another poster. Why are you mad at us when your own people are making eveyone mad?
Muslims also do not actually try to stop terrorism. Sure they'll say they dont condone it but talk is cheap and they do nothing to actually stop it

I don't hate Muslims. I don't even know any where I live. There are certain aspects of Islam I am not in agreement with, however, that goes for many things- religions, political agendas, etc. The Crusades were just one dark part of human history, and there is more to it than just the Christians who were out there killing "in the name of God". It wasn't all a one-sided faction. Please don't make it out as if it was. Yes, there are terrorists in most cultures- pretty much all if you examine the history of mankind. The thing is, men have been fighting since they first walked the earth. Notice women have often been left to deal with their messes!!

I would say everyone on this site has come in contact with a Muslim. Yet none of those muslims have detonated any bombs.
Yet switch on the news and terrorists are said to b hiding in your shed, & r born 2 kill.

Christians hate everyone, sweetie. Sorry. Don't take it personally and don't give it a second thought. You can 't get through to them. I don't have a problem with Muslims or any others. We aren't all bad. I don't know what country you live in, but not all Americans are christians and full of hate. I am just beginning to see how and why Americans are so hated around the world. What our government has done and is doing to people in other countries is atrocious. It makes me ashamed to be an American. We don't all think that way.
cl richardson: The bible says a lot of the same. How many have been obliterated because god said to get rid of them?

Every religion has their wackos. Islam's are the most fervent these days. The problem I have is that the 'good' Muslims aren't policing the 'bad' Muslims. Non-Muslims shouldn't have to do this. But let's face it. Whatever gains the 'bad' Muslims make will benefit the 'good' ones, and that' not right.

I think it is just easier for people to hate things and anyone they don't like. No need to control that rage, to be logical, no need to be rational and to analyze things in order, no more justification and no more thinking. For a person who is full of hatred, it's no more reasoning and critical thinking. Just plain hate and anger.
That is what makes human different from animals. Although we both get agitated, angry and hateful; humans have the capacity to arise from such circumstances. Those who hate and just hate for all wrong reasons are making themselves equal to that of the animals and even lower...
