I know its really popular, but Moet is good and the price is good.
Perrier Jouet is nice, too. Anything above this price range and your guests are not likely to notice the difference-- unless they are serious connoisseurs.

Just to let you know, Champagne is a region of France, and only wines which come from this region can properly be called "Champagne". Similar drinks from California, and the rest of the world should be called "sparkling wines".
For a nice bottle under $40 I would suggest a bottle Tattinger Brut Reserve or Demi Sec. Both are a fine French Champagne choice with very fine ( tiny) bubbles and subtle flavors of fresh fruit. The Brut Reserve has a hint of honey where as the Demi Sec is a little deeper in color and slightly bolder taste. If you want to stay under $20, I would stick with a nice bottle of Korbel. They are from California and have a nice selection of decent champagnes that will not break your bank! Cheers and Congratulations!

We ended up eloping so this wasn't an issue but originally the wedding I planned was $3 per person extra for a toast whether it was champagne or apple juice. I thought that was insane. I see nothing wrong with people toasting with the drink they already have. I'm allergic to champagne & as a guest I wouldn't drink it anyway. I find very few people I know that even like it. I have good taste, I'm not a chick without class, but it's a waste of money to me. More than one sip is enough for most people. They simply don't have a palette for it & it goes all to waste as nobody really wants to swig down their glass. It's a sipping thing & it's put off to the side. Don't waste your money on it, seriously.

We had an Italian champagne called Piemonte, Brachetto. We had so many compliments on it. It is a blush color which is different & it was awesome. You can check the internet for it or local stores. We ordered ours from a local Italian restaurant. It was really different. Good luck!

It is very cheap but I love it anyway. I like Verdi Spumante. It is similar to the ASTI without the bitter aftertaste. Good Luck with your decision!

I work for a fine wine and champagne distributor and I highly recommend TOSTI ASTI SPUMANTE. It's sweet and delicious, and not expensive.

I used Cooks. It's cheap and I needed 3 cases. All my friends and relatives swore that I had paid $30 a bottle when it was only $4 a bottle! Just don't let anyone see the label. :)

Depends if you like sweet or dry- talk to the person supplying the booze or a store- they can suggest one's.
There are ones that are cheaper and better then Cooks but I don't know if your supplier carries them.
