Hair Strand Drug Test?

Hey everyone, I have a question about hair strand drug testing... Here we go:

I have to take a hair strand drug test to be hired on for a position with a well known insurance company. I will be working in the Federal Employee center, working with people who are federal employees that have insurance with the company. It is a government position.

In the past I have smoked minimal amounts of marijuana and taken some muscle relaxers here and there... It has been quite some time since I have done this.

I have heard that the longer your hair, the farther back they can test, (I have long hair) but how far back do they actually test for employment?

I want to know how far back they test for drugs, and what type of drugs they test for.

Usuall 90 Days out and they test for all hard drugs including weed .

I agree with answer 2. They will surely test the entire hair and I don't think it matters if you cut it. Last I heard they can search back as far as 10 years. But that could be wrongful information. Remember the government has secrets and I for one believe they lie to the general public to keep us ignorant. They have all sorts of things we don't know about we only know what is 'leaked' I don't think you should worry though. They will go by how far back the drug use was and they will see whether it was abused or used as needed. Depending on exactly what position you are applying for will determine whether Any drug use will allow you to proceed.

The hair that grew at the time when you did certain drugs will stay in the hair indefinitely. Everyone's hair grows at a different length, but the average is 6 inches per year. So if you haven't done any illegal drugs in, say, 2 years, your safe as long as your hair is at most 12 inches long. If your hair is very long, you may want to consider cutting it short enough so that your clean period exceeds the remaining length.

Usually test three months back. They test for everything ranging from cocaine to marijuana. Drugs are in the roots of your hair for the rest of your life so they can only check back so far on thier testing. Otherwise those that had a party at woodstock wouldn't be finding jobs these days.

Did you not take biology? If your hair is really long than they can trace back for years and years. Lets say you shaved your head and it took 7 years to grow it to the length it is now. The traces of whatever drug you took will be in your hair cells. And they can Trace back 7 years. Kinda sucks but I learned it in biology.

As long as it took the hair on your head to grow is how far back they can go. This could easily be a year, depending on the length.
Don't worry about the muscle relaxers as long as they were by prescription. The MJ you need to worry about.

I am a federal employee and I know as long as you are honest with your "Experimentation" and can honestlt say that you havent used drugs recreationaly recently, it doesnt really matter. Although if acid is found you are out of luck. no waiver for that.

they usually test for everything, but they don't go back too far, they just examine the past year i think but every company is different why in the world are they strand testing you that is crazy,

The chemical make up of your hair will show everything you have ingested for as long as it took your hair to grow.

how far back in the past did you smoke??? can't answer w/o knowing...i know acid shows up for about a year...
