The Western Media has caused the west to believe in their point of view, and only giving one side of the story blinds the people viewing: that is almost everybody. It has made its "victims" extremely ignorant, and I am truly proud of those who see through its schemes. The Media has forced its viewers to believe that Islam is a violent, bloody, intolerant religion, but in reality this is actually the opposite. If people would stop accepting their television sets as their teachers, more people would know the actual truth about Islam. The Media reports misleading stories, gross exaggerations, inaccurate information, and false statements about Islam and Muslims to undermine the religion, and unfortunately, this propaganda is a success--many, MANY Americans believe everything they hear on the news or read in the newspaper. What they fail to realize is that what they read/hear is only one point of view of a bias Media that has been criticizing Muslims with false information vigorously since 9/11.

Terrorism is CONDEMNED in Islam; it is not allowed, period. Neither is innocent murder, suicide of any kind, forced marriages or forced conversions. These are all misleading fabrications composed by the Media. You can't always believe what you hear.

Terrorists are not true Muslims; they use Islam as a mask to cover up their dirty work, and give Islam a bad name. Most of them are only Muslim by name, yet are still accused of acting upon Islamic teachings, when in actuality, they are not. It is not fair for the majority of Muslims, who oppose terrorism and denounce violence that is occurring. Unfortunately, the Media will never let this be known, making it look like Muslims support these radical actions, when in reality they absolutely do not.

Please refer to the following video. It is very true, and will provide valuable insight; I strongly recommend watching it:

Having spent time in various countries where Islam is the preeminent faith I have to say you're both right...and wrong.

To be sure, the vast majority of Muslims want the same things from life that everyone else does, but there is an element within that uses the religion for not so pious ends. It's not an assumption, nor speculation, at least I don't believe so, because I've asked Muslims if they too fear terrorism.

I was never answered with a no.

You are as guilty as these same people because you are judging all people's knoeledge by a few people's lack there of. I don't mean to be rude or attack you but maybe you should do some reseach cause if you did you would discover that Muslims and Christians have both killed and slandered each other for over a thousand years. Personally I hate no specific group I'm just sad about the lack of understanding by all people for other people.

If muslims are offended that they are being generalised with the terrorists then they need to do something about it rather than say that those terrorists aren't "real" muslims. Those "freaks" who cut off people's heads are muslims whether the rest of the muslim population likes it or not. There must be something about the muslim religion that possesses these fundamentalists to act in such horrific ways. People aren't ignorant they are afraid and they really can't be blamed for it. I'm sure if a group of christians had blown up the world trade centres and killed women etc. people would be just as judgemental towards them and that would be the same with any other religion that acted in such ways.

The issue with the muslim religion is that it doesn't want to add to a society, it wants to replace it or parts of it.

Also, muslims (not all - i agree with you there) have a nasty habit of calling that "they are the ones beeing suppressed" and that i am a racist, while, being as a guest in my country, they call me pig, and lower-then-dogs.

And i agree with you, not all muslims are bad people, or terrorists.

But the muslim society itself should stand up against the bad ones in their society. (or isn't that allowed by the loving, non-violent muslim-religion?)

In the same way a lot of muslims fear for their lives when opposing their own religion, the same way any non-muslim will feel it, thus ending in an opposing stand.

I see this all on a daily basis, and with having multiple muslim friends (good friends), i still have to say i dislike the muslim religion as it is brought to the world by most muslims.

And as a well known person in my country said just yesterday: "the problem with believers of a religion is that they claim to have the monopoly on the thruth."

And about the research: read the koran, it's full of hate, aggression, etc.

sure, the bible has it's lines in that also, the only difference is that believers of the bible don't propagate the hatred (anymore - think about the crusades).

And i do agree with you, a lot (if not most) muslims do not interpret the koran correctly, wich leads them to acting completely wrong by their religion.

btw - i don' believe in any god.

You are right about people judging Muslims by the actions of the few that make news headlines.
The same goes for the world judging Americans by the actions of the president.

I guess it's just one of those things we have to live with.
That doesn't make it right and we don't have to like it ,but unfortunately, it is what it is and it will probably be that way forever.

Fortunately, a lot of people do know better than this.

Firstly, this is not a text message and reading your question was a chore.

Muslim extremists (they are Muslims) tend to get a lot of publicity when they plant bombs and kill hundreds of innocent people, this is not going to give a positive impression to others. These people have an immense hatred for the west and anyone from the West, and this is widely publicised by the media (this is normal when innocents are slaughtered in the name of religion)

We all know that not all Muslims are like that, unfortunately the extremists give everyone a bad name, why not blame them instead of ranting at us?

im going out on a limb here but are you a muslim if so can you please tell me what these mean from the koran i'm sure i know but it doesn't seem friendly.
Don't bother to warn the disbelievers. Allah has blinded them. Theirs will be an awful doom
Those who disbelieve, promise them a painful doom
All non-Muslims will be rejected by Allah after they die
Those who believe incorrectly will face the terror and wrath of Allah
The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom.
i've read the koran and found tones of reasons to be like people you mention but i judge people when i know them, islam has an image problem not wholely undeserved due to clerics and governmens and groups. if you dont want people to paint everyone with the same brush you should incourage others with your views to speek out louder.
i know some muslims and they are lovely people but i also know the bad type and they tend to know the koran better (in my experience) and are more numerouse so why dont you stop crying and do something to change peoples minds.
i have done research and heard with my own ears people agreeing with honnor killing and 911 so where are the nice ones in islam

I think the answer might be that a champion from the Muslim faith has not emerged publically. Anytime minorities are oppressed, it is due to lack of a figure that embodies tolerance and wisdom for all. For the past twenty years, news has reported on the negative issues of countries that sympathize with terrorism to promote their own extremist beliefs. The world could use another Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., or Jesus right about now.

You are right Xena, there are just as many crazy people in Christianity, you never hear Muslim claiming that every Christian is like the westboro baptist sect.

However, there have been so many violent acts committed in the name of Allah, that many people in the Western world are concerned that your religion 'appears' to accept it.

That isn't the case of course, but you must admit that religion, whether it is Christianity, Islam, Judaism etc.. opens the door for people to behave incredibly violently towards others. It also makes it more possible for people to be lead by other people claiming to have special access to a God, and then using that privilege to direct other's actions.

That is why a religion free life is the safest way to go.
