"and yea verilily they did moveth into the land of Yahoo Answers and they did not like what they seen, as the land and all who creepeth upon it knew not how to quote lengthy passages of meaningless drivel that makes no sense outside the original Hebrew and precious little sense in that too" Book of Nautius 14;25
yes just hate it, stupid self righteous idiots that have memorised the whole thing-how is that diiferent from all the "evil islamic fanatics" that American tv told everyone about that had memorised the whole Koran in terror training schools in Pakistan and the Middle East? At least they aren't annoying everybody on here.

YES! I can't stand it. I don't even read them when there that long. I mean if you're gonna quote the bible, fine, but don't cut and paste the whole thing on the page! What's wrong with saying what chapter and verse to check out without posting it? I don't understand why more people don't do that you know, like say John 3:2 said it best, and then you can go read it for yourself.

I was just thinking that same thing. I am a born again/non-denominational Christian and I try to use my own words and thoughts when answering questions. I have the knowledge of the scriptures in my mind, however, I try to turn them into everyday conversation. Once in awhile I will copy and paste scripture if it is warranted but that is not my norm. When someone pastes paragraph upon paragraph of scripture I usually get bored and stop reading.

I agree. If the passage of scripture actually answers the question, you can usually boil it down to a couple of main points, without posting an entire chapter. Or, simply say "read Genesis 22, and you'll see how God tested Abraham's faith." Something like that.
I never read long answers, period. Life's too short.

No I don't hate it. The bible has the answer for everything, so quoting it is the right thing to do.

I don't hate it. I just skip over it and take comfort in the fact that someone has wasted a lot of time writing an unread answer instead of doing something really annoying like proselytizing at my front door.

I just assume they haven't a clue what they're even quoting, and that most or all of it is irrelevant to the question, and give them a thumbs-down to compress the text. The same applies to most copied-and-pasted responses; they usually come from biased sources, which is why they're afraid to cite the source and provide a direct link.

It depends on the question.
If someone just cuts & pastes some silly objection to the bible from some atheist website, then I just cut & paste a rebuttal.
Why send time & effort on an answer, if no one spent time or effort on the question?

And They know the bloody numbers to go with it!
If god exists, wouldn't He want you to live a good and full life being nice to each other rather than wasting your life re-reading a bronze age fairy tale again and again?

Depends on if a lengthy passage was asked for.
