Count your radial pluse (located on the outside of your wrist) for either 60 seconds or you can count it for 30 seconds and multiply the number you get times 2. Either way works and will give your your heart rate.

A heart rate monitor is the simplest method.

If you don't have access to one, put your finger on your carotid artery, count the number of beats in 10 seconds, and multiply by 6. Of course, checking it afterward doesn't tell you much about what happened DURING.

I always find my pulse either in my neck or on my wrist.....wait for a few seconds and make sure I'm feeling the right spot...then I check the second hand on my watch....I start counting the heartbeats as it ticks off 6 seconds....I multiply that number by 10 and find my BPMs.

There are plenty of ways to check beats per minute (BPM), it just depends how long you count.

If you count beats in ten seconds, multiply by 6.
If you count beats in fifteen seconds, multiply by 4.
If you count beats in thirty, multiply by 2.
