Funny you should ask... My fiance went with me to a bridal expo (bless his heart), and he was worried about being surrounded by spoiled bridezilla brats all day. When we came up to the limos, there was a stretch Hummer with fake fireplaces, three bars, a parquet floor--the whole nine yards. He put a pout on his face, stamped his foot, and said, "I've dreamed of this day since I was a little boy, and I want it!". We looked at each other and cracked up.
Seriously, this really is our wedding and we are both planning it. He has little interest in the details, but we decide all the major things together (budget, venue, menu, guests, cake, music, photographer, officiants, etc.).

Because by the time most men have gotten engaged they have learned "yes dear" is the most appropriate response!! Actually it has more to do with the fact that girls have dreamed of their wedding day since they were 4 and guys have thought about it oh since maybe a few weeks before they proposed. Even then they don't have details like colors and other girly touches in their heads. Most guys really don't care if the bride wants the wedding favors to be a picture frame versus a box of chocolate. They don't care if the bridesmaids wear blue or green or pink or rainbow colors. My husband cared about the food and music and what he had to wear. Everything else was my call. Like when it came to choosing invitations. I called him from the store and said I found invites I like. Do you want to come and see them. He said if you like them order them. Don't be mad at me but I really don't care what the invites look like. If you chose them I'm sure they'll be nice.

You'll hear a lot of women complaining about how their grooms just aren't into the wedding planning. Many of these women think it means that their grooms just don't care.
Men don't declare that it's "MY day." Why? Because they don't lose sight of the bigger picture the way many brides do.

Some men just don't feel the need to speak up and say, its OUR day.. my husband and I declared everything our day although he kept telling me it was more my day to shine than his since all eyes would be on me as the bride.. but I never wanted that kind of thought.. if men speak up more often and not let their fiances become bridezillas, they would be able to claim it OUR day as well : )

Because culture demands its so. The groom means nothing. Thats why a wedding dress costs hundreds or thousands of dollars, and the tux rental is next to nothing. The bride usually keeps the dress, but never fits in it again.
All the guests say what a pretty bride, blah blah blah.
really, though its so the bride can be treated like a princess in one day of her life. Its a bit vain, and egotisical, but hey.. what can you say?

A lot of girls grew up with the whole "princess bride" idea in their heads, and now they want exactly what they've dreamed of their whole lives. Most guys don't care!
In my case, I would way rather just elope or do a destination wedding with immediate family only - it's my bf who wants the big wedding! Really warped. ;o)

Because weddings are more for the bride than the groom. Haven't you ever been married?

because the men tend to focus more on the marriage then the wedding. most guys dont really care much for all the flowers and dresses and cake. too many women are all about "me, me, me" and focus too much on the one day rather then the commitment that marriage takes. I have never understood it at all. I wasnt one of those brides who dreamed up the perfect wedding day and wanted everything to be spectacular. my wedding day was what it was becuase I married someone I love and my close friends and family were there to share it with me. yeah....it their day all right...but thats all it is.....1 day.

My day is the day after, hours of raunchy, no holds barred sex with my new wifey. That's MY day.
Too bad for the young anxious groom to not realize that this doen't last. But the brat worried about HER day is going to be worried about herself first for decades.
What is that again50% divorce rate?

Haha, well my brother did. We were all fighting about stuff on the day of his wedding and he finally stopped us all and was like, "TODAY IS THE DAY I'M GETTING MARRIED AND EVERYONE IS JUST BEING SELFISH. THIS IS MY ******* DAY SO SHUT UP!"
