I have hives! So I went to the doctor today after having very bad itching and me not knowing what I have since Tuesday night. I do not have to big red bumps on my skin but the doctor said that there just not showing but I do have it. I've tried using caladryl and I've been taking medicine for allergies and benadryl but I don't know if it is helping because I'm still really itchy. I have not done anything different then what I usually do with allergies and I don't even know if this is allergies.
The doctor gave me a prescription and I get to the pharmacy and my insurance doesn't cover it! What am I do to? Suffer? They say that it last up to 6 weeks! What do you recommend to do to stop the itching?

Normally, if you call your insurance, they will tell you what they do cover. A pharmacist can call the insurance and run through related drugs and see what they cover. Most insurances won't cover Clarinex unless you try Claritain first. If you get authorization from your doctor submitted to your insurance, they might cover it. Related drugs normally covered are Allegra, Singulair, and Zyrtec.

Call your doctor and see if they can prescribe you something that your insurance would cover. There is usually a generic brand of medication that insurance will cover.
