Desert Eagle definately or a long barrel .357 Magnum revolver. You can even find them nickel plated for that shiny, over the top look!

Nobody intentionally sets out to 'compensate' or 'over-compensate' by buying an unusually large or powerful gun, car, truck, motorcycle, stereo, etc.
The terms refer to a man going large in some other way because he has feelings of inadequacy regarding his own personal equipment. If such people actually exist, then they are doing this without realizing it, and therefore would never ask advice on how to do it.
There may actually be no such thing however. It is at least as likely that this theory was propounded by some anti-gun zealot who simply thought it was a great way to insult people whom he or she did not understand because they enjoyed using tools that inspired fear and loathing in the zealot. There is a term for this: Hoplophobia.

How about a Magnum Research BFR. Either the 45-70 Government or the 444 Marlin make quite a statement. The cartridges themselves are more than 2.5 inches long, the revolver (BFR=Biggest Finest Revolver) is 17.5 inches long (10" bbl, a 7.5 is available for the 45-70) and weighs in at 4.36 pounds empty. They are shootable, in fact I know a guy who routinely shoots his 45-70 (7.5 inch bbl). But nothing says overcompensation like a foot and a half of single action revolver.

LOL Desert eagle is overcompensating for anyone.
Any other large gun, well it depends on who's holding it.
A city guy with a .44 mag, over compensating. A hog hunter with a .44 mag, smart

Any gun you are uncomfortable shooting or unable to hit your target is overcompensating. It's more important to know how to handle your handgun well and feel confident you are able to hit your target. Both from a still position as well from a moving position. For me personally it's a Ruger P345 in 45ACP that is easily concealed, yet has enough power to stop just about anything alive within the lower 48 states when hit in the right place.

I totally agree with E.S. Kimo and his answer. Getting more than a bit tired of "fantasy" hunting scenario's and "what if" questions that are just plain nonsense. I pray for a Paintball and a BB Gun Pellet Rifle category on a daily basis.....
*Boker...........That is one BUTT UGLY Gun for $1,700 and change. One of the top 10 I've ever seen. Screams PIMP and Drug Dealer..........
