Don't think so... Islam chose the crescent shape because:

Wow, muhammad really cut a moon in half? I will have to read up on that..........

The reason why the Crescent is the symbol on our flag is because we start our fasting month "Ramadan" when the Crescent appears, and we end that month when the full moon appears after 30 or 31 days of the Crescent's appearance.

"They ask thee Concerning the New Moons. Say: They are but signs To mark fixed periods of time In (the affairs of) men, And for Pilgrimage. It is no virtue if ye enter the houses from the back: It is virtue if ye fear Allah. Enter houses Through the proper doors: And fear Allah: That ye may prosper.(The Noble Quran, 2:189)"

As we clearly see in the Noble Verse, moon is nothing but a tool used by the Muslims. It is not GOD Almighty to us, nor do we use it in our worship.

Muslims use the moon to determine the timing and the beginning and the ending of the Fasting Month of Ramadan.

The moon, stars, dawn, evening-sky-lines/breaks and others during Islam's times and even before were used and still are used for determining time.

Obviously back then digital clocks did not exist! So the only means they had for determining time was by using GOD Almighty's astronomy/cosmos that was available to them.

Yes it is in the Quran. He did it by the will and power of Allah. If you have believe in all powerful God why would it be strange that he provides his prophets like Moses, Jesus and Muhammad with miracles. If you don't believe that miracles can happen then you don't believe in God.

No Prophet Muhammad(PBUH*) didn't cut the moon in half. That was the work of ALLAH(SWT). Prophet Muhammad(PBUH*) is just a prophet and a man.

1. I don't remember if it is in Quran
2. It is not Mohammad who cut the moon in half. It is God who did it to prove to the aetheists that he was Gods Prophets. All miracles happend by the hands of Prophets are actually done by God to prove that the Prophet is reall.

3. Many people think that Mohammad split the moon. But they lack knowledge and do not know what they are saying.

4. When Jesus Christ raised a death, he always said by the leave (or command) God get up. So it was God who did to prove that Jesus was representing God and is true Messenger of God.

I don't know but the quran is full of lies and false promises (just like the bible).
The format is so similar it's pathetic.
I believe Mohamed used the bible as an inspiration to write the Quran. Frankly Christians have the same difficulties believing.
