If you are making some kind of payment on medical bills can they still send you accounts to collections?!

They can, but likely will not. Talk to them and make sure they have agreed not to as long as you are making on time payments. If you can, get it in writing. Generally if you are making payments to the medical provider and not a collection agency, they do not report to the bureaus. Also, if your account is sent to a collection agency you will receive a letter telling you that you have 30 days to dispute the validity of the debt. So you will know if its gone to collections. At the time you get this letter, nothing will have been reported to the bureaus yet.
You can check your own credit to make sure nothing has been reported by going to annualcreditreport.com
its free as required by law once per year. Get all 3 reports and see where you stand. Good luck!

Typically past due medical bills get sent to collections at the 90 day mark, even if you are making payments.

I think as long as they are receiving some kind of payments, anything is better than nothing, you should be okay. You should really talk to them about negotiating a payment schedule and amount so you don't end up going to collections.

they can, unfortunately, especially if you haven't made regular payments in the past.
but if you are paying them tell collections that's what you are doing and that you will discuss it with the bill issuers directly.
I did this about a year ago, collections wouldn't leave me alone so it got to a point where I had to tell em to bugger off because I was making payments to the bill issuer directly and that I had no intention of dealing with collections.
I don't know how helpful that is but it's just my experience.
