yeah, it doesnt make much sense, does it?? they can teach the "theroy" of evolution, but they cant teach that CHRIST may exist(i know he does)... so i dont know why they would allow one and not the other.....but, i guess all of this stuff has to happen to fulfill BIBLE prophecy... we just have to be patient and wait for him.
seriously people, who really care about grammar on here?? does anyone really? i think some people just look for things to complain about... they love pickin apart everyone else's flaws..... grow up people! it YAHOO! ANSWERS for goodness sake!

I don't expect to convince you, but I will answer your question nonetheless.
Prayer (out loud) is not allowed in public schools because different people pray in different ways, to different entities, and a substantial portion of the population do not pray at all. Some are atheists, some are agnostics, some just don't use that term for their spiritual practices. So if you read or recite a prayer in a public school, you are in violation of the First Amendment because it constitutes "establishing" whatever group wrote the prayer.
However, many schools schedule a couple of minutes of silence, in which a kid can pray, meditate, contemplate, or just think about how boring it is. This does not establish any particular religion, or even a non-religious philosophy like atheism.
And nobody ever said people evolved from monkeys. We evolved from a common ancestor with monkeys.
You say "kids should be taught the truth," and go on to state what you believe to be the truth. It is true that it is clearly stated in the Bible that God created the heavens and the earth, etc., etc. That truth (that it says it in the Bible) is not to be confused with the assertion that this statement in the Bible is itself true.
Some jurisdictions have tried to teach comparative religion, but the problem with that is which religions are or are not covered, and how they are presented. Generally, comparative religion should be left to college, where people are old enough to use good judgment in what they believe.

Are you a troll?
I live in a small town in the South and we have some pretty conservative Christians here and still, I have never heard them say something so stupid, at least not in public outside their group.
Most Christians I know do not think ANYONE can prevent them from praying ANYWHERE they so choose. I certainly do not see why a person cannot privately bow their head, close their eyes and pray ANYWHERE, school, work on the bus.
Do you need the government to tell you it is OK to pray and give you a time and place? If so, what kind of weak-*** religion do you have?
My son prays in school. He reads his religious books in school. He wears his ankh pendant.
However you are not allowed to engage in soliciting or proselytizing on school grounds and that is FAIR.
As for science class, evolution is what the majority of the world's respected science community accepts after many years of critical investigation and research. It is okay if you want to teach your kids your religious views on life on earth at home or in your church. But in science class, we will have science taught, NOT religion or philosophy.
Maybe you don't want your kids to have a solid education in the earth sciences or want them to pursue it academically at college level. The vast majority of us however want our teens to be able to answer questions about evolution at college entrance tests and be exposed to a world class education.

Listen...I understand where you're going here. But you can't CLAIM that God is the truth when we don't know, just as evolutionists can't claim evolution is the truth because there is only evidence that supports it, but we've never seen a species change so we can't prove it...
Anyway....I think theology should be a manditory class so atleast kids will be able to learn the truth about religions and not misconceptions the media or their parents tell them.

Prayer happens in school all the time ,Did you ever see a kid try to get through a test that he didn't study for ?
The bigger question of course is why is public / group prayer necessary. ? Why wouldn't having TMB jr taking 2 minutes to pray at home before going to school accomplish the same purpose ?

Perhaps they needed the extra time to teach satire.
I mean seriously, Monkeyballs? And if you want people to think you're a redneck, science-bashing Jesus freak you should add some spelling errors and more than two grammatical mistakes. And what's with the punctuation? You even used two apostrophes correctly.
But somehow people are actually taking this seriously. That's really, really sad.

Evolution is not a belief it is fact, this is what we teach in school....facts, Christianity is NOT fact. And there is such a thing as separation of church and state....
Also maybe you should go back to school or study a little harder, based on the way you asked you question (Double negative)

Sigh. Evolution is supported by physical evidence. It is a fact.
The bible is not evidence, but it's taught as an elective in half of the states.
And you are free to pray in public schools - just don't force it on anyone else.

Anybody can pray in school dear. The idea is that schools should not organize it.
Schools are there for learning, not for spreading fairy tales and encouraging schizoid delusional mental disorders.

Because more time obviously needs to be spent teaching English.
It's not a double standard. Prayer is not education, it is masturbation.
