I too have been using Vista since the 29th of January...the day it was officially released. Like any new product it will have problems, but they will, in time, be corrected. If anyone out there thinks you had no problems with XP...what do you think SP1 and SP2 did? Fix things that were already working. Nooooooooooo it fixed major problems, including security leaks, with XP.
I agree VISTA requires some thought...one reason why Microsoft makes it difficult to screw it up as a user.
Believe me in time Vista will be as popular as XP and when the next Microsoft OS comes out everyone will be bad mouthing it over Vista. Hey, we're humans, we like to complain.

I would say that vista is total crap, but most of what I heard is from people who used to own it and switched back to XP. I have yet to meet someone who kept it.
For one, the internet connection is required upon start up. With most of the people in my rural are, this is an impossibility before turning on the computer. (Computer needs connection, connection can't be made without computer)
Also, we have some troubles with the phone lines in our portion of the country. Meaning that, even if we could get around the initial connection problem, which come did, the connection was unstable and the computer moved about as slow as a depressed snail.
I would have to say that all the trouble shooting and bad customer service at the main office make Vista probably the worst investment you could ever buy.
You do have to think with VISTA, but there's a limit to how much the consumer should have to put into it. Microsoft crossed that limit.
And, trust me, this is not the first time Microsoft has put a complete piece of trash out for the American market.
Basically, in the long run, I would have to say that VISTA SUCKS.
It's good to see that Microsoft is scouring this part of the internet for product promotion. You're really doing a good job, BTW. Really good idea, thumbs up for the good job.

OK, gotta ask this. Do you work for Microsoft? I've seen several of your questions related to promoting MS Vista.
MS Vista is not as bad as a majority of the post (here or other forums) make it out to be. It does still have problems so it isn't perfect either. It also seems to be a product without a market. What compelling reason do we have to upgrade? What technical requirement does MS Vista cover that MS XP didn't? Security is pretty comparable between the two. MS Vista did remove the ability to run as administrator but their "run as" will quickly have the same downfall as an account with administrative rights. Users are just going to start ignoring the prompts and simply click "OK" to continue. So what else would compell me to upgrade? DX10? MS says that it requires MS Vista, but why is it that an open source project has a version for MS XP? Could it be that an open source developer is smarter than MS or is MS trying to force everyone into an upgrade path to make more money? MS Vista Aero certainly looks pretty, but I don't see everyone going out and putting vinyls on their car to improve the appearance. Sometimes you want functionality over flash.
So what MS Vista feature did you need over any of the previous MS operating systems?
Oh, let's not forget the environment impact of upgrading to MS Vista. The resource hungry operating system will send older PC hardware hopefully to a recycling center but I'm guessing we'll see a lot more in landfills.
** Edit **
You said: "XP is history."
So all those Win 98 and Win2000 users still out there are ancient history then? Moving to the newest operating system is not a requirement. How many of the MS Vista sales are directly tied to the purchase of a new PC? How many users care or know what operating system they are purchasing? Are many of the MS Vista sales the result of no choice in another MS operating system? How many retail MS Vista sales are there?
I have a 2004 Nissan Sentra. Should I worry that it is history and move to the 2008 Sentra? I'm guessing the 2008 model will have improved performance (I believe Nissan offers the "2.0" model versus the "1.8" model I have) and safety (maybe side rail airbags, improved handling, etc...).

Round about 99 / 2000 Microsoft Released Windows Millenium. It was nothing but a pile of crap. There was nothing wrong with Windows 98 SE - and Windows 2000 was also available.
They forced it on their manufcaturers - and marketed the hell out of it. It was nothing but a more restrictive and less stable version of Windows 98. 98 SE outperformed it in benchmarks, as did 2000 - but Microsoft Pushed it.
You're seeing the same thing with Vista.
There is nothing wrong with XP. You're not losing any functionality - and don't throw that DirectX 10 crap at me - no one is using it anyway - and it will find it's way onto XP.
XP is solid, proven, and by far the finest OS Microsoft has produced since DOS.
There is no reason to go to Vista. It doesn't utilize the resources as well as XP on systems. It also is a hog as far as RAM, rendering, Hard Disk Space, and thread processing time.
All of the failsafes and checkpoint in Vista are the heart of why Microsoft is pushing it so hard. They know what you are running, who it is licesnsed to, when it was registered, what PC it was registered on, when it was activated, who activated it, and constantly check on it to see what software is on it, who is using it, if it is legal or not, and how often it is being used.
Microsoft is just pushing to raise liquid capital. Vista is the same pile of crap that Millenium was - and I will not be using this OS.

Vista may have many of its shortcomings... People who started using Windows from the beginning will know that it did not just get to the level it got to all in one go!!! Even our beloved XP... From the beginning it had it's teething problems. And that is what I believe is happening with Vista. For those guys out there who understand what to expect in the next few months or year(s) in the computing industry, many will understand that Vista did possible came ahead of its time!!!
Granted there are problems with it, mine being the problem of devices but, every other, device drivers are being developed to work with Vista...
But generally I believe Microsoft is not just resting now, new changes comes up everyday in this our old of computing. It has happened before and it will continue as long as our world of technology is dynamic and things are being done different everyday or even in better ways. Devices come up every other day and these are part of the challenges that is facing Vista.
I presently am not using Vista on my system but I have implemented it on many computers and I believe it is beautiful system that will find its feets.

I think because people are just used to XP, a lot of the bugs have gotten worked out, now we're all settled into the familiar territory. VISTA changed a few things up, some things didn't work the way they used to. People generally don't adapt well to change.
The only real reason I don't like it is because several of my accessories didn't work, and two software games won't run right anymore.

A good operating system is not flashy or have a these bells and whistles. I should be strictly that an OS. We should not have to upgrade our video cards, ram, hard drives, etc... to run just the OS. If we want to do video editing or gaming then we will build a computer to do that. For those of us that just want to type docs, ck email, and just surf the net is a very costly upgrade.
By the way XP is still here and will be here for sometime to come.

i think vista is sexy to. LOL. I have it and its more stable, faster, nicer looking and drivers are coming fast. I checked the first week and couldnt find drivers for my finger print reader and wireless keyboard + mouse. Next week they have em! Besides this is just a repeat of windows 2000 to xp.
Also when i didnt want to spend the money i said i hate vista to. These people have never tried vista or they have and one of those people who think what they have is the best.
