Christian Theory goes like this: Let's preach these people to death or Let's kill them if we can't make them become one of us or Let's destroy all they have in the name of Jesus.
If you disagree with this, you might want to check out what they did to our Native Americans, the Aztecs, the indigenous people of Easter Island, the Burning Times of Salem, Massachusetts and the list goes on & on & on...etc...

I think it is fear. I grew up in the Christian religion and watched them so afraid to be unChristianly and so afraid that they would be drawn to ways that were considered not right with God, that they condemed any little thing such as missing two services in a row from illness.
However you must also look at other religions. Almost all have time, place, or history of disrespecting other religions. It all comes down to our own experiences and how those define our belives, yet we all still belive that our way is the best way for everyone else so we hound each other about how wrong they are and right we are. You can place this mentality for almost any topic of disrespect.
Bottom line: if a person is a respector of others it will carry into his/her Christian (or any religious) attitude.

I'm a Christian, and I come here and actually speak out in 'favor' of studying and understanding the 'non-Christian religions' in the world. I'm sorry, but I feel that there is a 'huge mistake' in the wording of your question ... you asked about 'all Christians' when you want an answer about those few who do show 'disrespect' to other religions ... and when you make a mistake like that, you actually 'divide' the line between us, into 'a battlefield' instead of trying to 'draw us together' by discussing the 'similarities' in all relgions.

To sum it up in one word..

FEAR.

If they didn't then they would admit that their religion could be wrong. Where other religions are not so narrow minded and well have multiple points of view. If you look at the most basic break down they are the same. Theres God, Then a male and female deity. Wicca.. Now Christian Theres God.. Jesus male Deity, Mother Mary Female Deity..
After that is where things get messed up in differences.

What gets me, God says love thy neighbor, turn the other cheek. Yet why have more people died to this religion then any others in history.

Will stop here or I will get on a rant lol.

You are clumping us all together again. I am not disrespectful to other religions so I am kind of insulted by your question. I live out my own salvation. Other religions must do what they do. Live and let live. Love and let love. I merely try to walk my talk and not be a hypocrite. I try to love others regardless of their religion. That doesn't mean I have to agree with their religion - and I don't. I believe that following the teachings of Christ are of the utmost importance in life and that is the way to God and heaven. My personal opinion.

Born again/non-denominational Christian

On the contrary, Christians are the least disrepectful of most all religions. Consider Islam, which states that the way to get peace is to kill those who do not accept their religion, and thus peace is established. How about that for a religion?
Christians aren't the ones cutting heads off of other relgions who won't accept Islam....
Might want to read more on the Founding Fathers of this Country, read THEIR writings, not embellished reports about them. They were all Christians, and wonderfully kind to all the world.

I'm not sure what Christians you are around..
but no Christians I know are disrespectful to anyone or anything.
I hope you don't stereotype us all because of a small percentage that might be disrespectful.
I take the fact that everyone chooses to worship in a different way and maybe even to different Gods.
I know who my God is, and I know that I'm going to Heaven for that.
Us Christians should do our duty of being respectful, yet also trying to bring as many people as we can into the light of God.

What do you mean by "disrespectful"?

Is simple disagreement or disbelief somehow "disrespectful" to you? If so, then everyone who is not a Christian is equally disrespectful to us!

Jesus said that he was the only way into Heaven. Taken literally, that means that ever other religion is false.

Why is it disrespectful just to be honest?

True Christians are respectful. This just shows how a name is not how you should judge someone. You should judge them by their fruits, not their labels. Christianity is the dominate religion in my part of the world but many people label them selves Christian even when they don't live the precepts of Christianity. Just believing in the bible or Jesus doesn't make you a christian. ( Even the devils admitted Jesus was the Christ) Great evils have been done in the name of Christianity by so called christians.

Personally, all religions have, and always will suppress other religions - Their relentless need to prove that their god is superior has fuelled much suffering in this world and has spread like a cancer.

Take, for example the burning of flags, for portraying a picture of Mohammed in a newspaper.

These are actions of neolithic proportions and not relevant or condusive to a humane and united world.

The reason can be found in the commandments. Among others -- "I am the Lord, thy God, thou shall have no other gods before me." An extremly arrogant phrase which allows for no other viewpoint and no intrepretation. Naturally the attitude carries over to the worshippers. "My god is the only god, the one true god; therefore, you must be wrong as you worship your false god -- if you can't understand that simple concept my fellow christians and I will treat you with all the contempt you and your second rate religion deserve. If that doesn't work we will kill you in the name of god.
