I'm totally in agreement with you there - those kind of jokes aren't cool and this guy probably isn't worth your time.

Guys are pretty "dumb" when it comes to talking to women...I wouldnt hold it completely against him. He may not have been able to think of any other way...remember kindergarten? The boy who chased you around at recess? Same thing. This guy obviously hasnt grown up yet! No, you are not too strict, you are just mature. I would be turned off from a guy if he made fun of me or my dog as well. That sort of behavior is very juvenile and you have every right not to want to date someone like that. And you are right, some girls, with lower self-esteem, could really take that sort of thing to heart. He needs to grow up before he really hurts someone!!! Good luck and stay strong.

Playful teasing can be fun and flirty and is actually a sign that someone really likes you. But, anything can be taken too far.
Let him know that he stepped over your boundaries before you just cut him off. However, if he continues to do so after that, then you can let him go.

Then he's a loser and next time you see him tell him what you think of him and his jokes and that you don't want to talk to him anymore until he can learn that putting people/people's things down is just not funny at all.

I think you're right. He must be clueless if he thought making fun of your dog was a way to befriend you! What will he do next, roar with laughter at someone's funeral? This guy is one to avoid. Stick to your guns.

I know how you feel. I have a poodle and she tried to jump on the couch and didnt make it and got the breath knocked out of her and my sis in law started laughing and I just wanted to grab her by her hair and smack her.

I think you should just give the poor guy a chance. He probably had no idea how you feel about that. You could be passing up the guy of a lifetime over one misunderstanding.
