Yes Hell is real, I have different bibles myself, the new American, the old Douay-rimes and the Catholic parish edition, but Hell is in all of them so I'm sure the new king James bible didn't mistranslated.

In fact I've cross referenced that one (and many , many others) with the Dead sea scrolls and it's pretty accurate.

In it's original languages, the Bible uses the Hebrew word she´ohl´ and its Greek equivalent hai´des more than 70 times. Both words are related to death. Some Bible translations render them as "grave," "hell," or "pit." However, in most languages there are no words that convey the precise sense of these Hebrew and Greek words.

What do these words really mean?

Ecclesiastes 9:10 states: "There is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol, the place to which you are going."

Does this mean that Sheol refers to a specific, or individual, grave site where we may have buried a loved one? No. When the Bible refers to a specific burial place, or grave, it uses other Hebrew and Greek words, not she´ohl´ and hai´des. (Genesis 23:7-9; Matthew 28:1) Also, the Bible does not use the word "Sheol" for a grave where several individuals are buried together, such as a family grave or a mass grave.-Genesis 49:30, 31.

To what kind of place, then, does "Sheol" refer? God's Word indicates that "Sheol," or "Hades," refers to something much more than even a large mass grave. For instance, Isaiah 5:14 notes that Sheol is "spacious and has opened its mouth wide beyond bounds." Although Sheol has already swallowed, so to speak, countless dead people, it always seems to hunger for more. (Proverbs 30:15, 16) Unlike any literal burial site, which can hold only a limited number of the dead, "Sheol and the place of destruction themselves do not get satisfied." (Proverbs 27:20) Sheol never becomes full. It has no limits. Sheol, or Hades, is thus not a literal place in a specific location. Rather, it is the common grave of dead mankind, the figurative location where most of mankind sleep in death.

The teaching of eternal tornment in a fiery place is not a biblical teaching, but as you correctly found, pagan.

Hell is a mistranslation of the Hebrew word Sheol and the Greek word Hades. They both mean GRAVE. The idea of hell was created during the Dark Ages to intimidate people into going against Church teachings.

Hi andrew_rourke85. Yes Hell is very real. God warns us very clearly about Hell in the Bible. This is where the unsaved of the world will be sent on Judgment Day.

You can read Deuteronomy 28, from verse 15 to the end of the chapter, and you will see expression after expression of things that happen on this earth which are used to develop a picture of the awfulness of hell. I won't post it because it is a very long passage.

God does give us other scripture describing Hell in Revelation 14:11 God warns us:

"And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night."

In Matthew 8:12 He tells us:

"But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness [hell]: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

God speaks of hell as a lake of fire in Revelation 20:10:

"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

Salvation is a gift. The same gift of eternal life is given to every believer. Hell is payment for sin. We read in Romans 6:23:

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

And yes one sin is enough to send you to Hell for eternity.

Hell is real. Real convienent anyway, for religious leaders to use as a cattle prod for those lacking faith or not living up to religious principals.

Hell completely contradicts the concept of God being a loving God.

YES!

Is hell real? Studies show that over 90% of people in the world believe in a "heaven" while less than 50% believe in an eternal hell. According to the Bible, hell is most definitely real! The punishment of the wicked in hell is as never-ending as the bliss of the righteous in Heaven. The punishment of the wicked dead in hell is described throughout Scripture as "everlasting fire" (Matthew 25:41), "unquenchable fire" (Matthew 3:12), "shame and everlasting contempt" (Daniel 12:2), a place where "their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched" (Mark 9:44-49), a place of "torments" and "flame" (Luke 16:23,24), "everlasting destruction" (2 Thessalonians 1:9), a place of torment with "fire and brimstone" where "the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever" (Revelation 14:10,11), and a "lake of fire and brimstone" where the wicked are "tormented day and night forever and ever" (Revelation 20:10). Jesus Himself indicates that the punishment in hell itself is everlasting - not merely the smoke and flames (Matthew 25:46).

The wicked are forever subject to the fury and the wrath of God in hell. They consciously suffer shame and contempt and the assaults of an accusing conscience -- along with the fiery wrath of an offended deity -- for all of eternity. Even those in hell will acknowledge the perfect justice of God (Psalms 76:10). Those who are in the very real hell will know that their punishment is just and that they alone are to blame (Deuteronomy 32:3-5). Yes, hell is real. Yes, hell is a place of torment and punishment that lasts forever and ever, with no end! Praise God that through Jesus, we can escape this eternal fate (John 3:16,18,36).

Its not the first time the Christian religion has borrowed from the pagans, it was a tactic for conversion from the old gods to the christian way of thinking. Enjoy your day

Yes, it is very real. I think the biggest deception from the devil is convincing people that it doesn't exist and people aren't aware of the eternal punishment that awaits them if they don't invite Jesus into their hearts and become saved.

Hell is not real, neither is Heaven.

It's only a frame of mind.
