It's really important to connect with the audience and by looking them in the eye you take them right into the music with you.
It shows that you are confident and are emotionally connected to what you are singing. No one wants to hear a robot sing.

It shows that you are confident about your singing ability, and not just there because you had nothing better to do that day.
Sometimes it hard though because when I am really into a song, I close my eyes. But singing with our eyes open also shows that you are not afraid to look into the judging eyes of your audience.

Because it shows sincerity, feeling, and because when people look you in the eyes and you look at them in the eyes it shows respect. compassion for the conversation. I guess what I am trying to say is there is a lot of feelings that show in your eyes.
