I've tried hooking my VCR up to my dv camera (Panasonic OV-GS400)- I have the camera in the VCR mode- (I've even tried the menu- and messing with the AV in/out points- and I can't seem to set anything that works. So how do I record a video onto a DV tape?

this won't work if the tape you play back in the VCR has macrovision or copyguard (ie a pre-recorded movie). The PV-GS400 should work to record in the VCR mode. Have you tested to see if there is video on the VCR output, some VCR do not have video outputs.

I never tried this model, but for any Sony camcorder audio/ video input/output is using the same cable. If the camcorder is PLAYing then it becomes a player and has output through AV cable. And if in RECording (VCR mode), the camera becomes as a recorder, then connect to video out terminal of VCR player
