Yes I have had it, I went out for a Chinese at a very posh new restaurant. I had duck chowmein. I was OK for a couple of hours but then i was really sick and the stomach cramps were aw fall and I had diaoreah for two weeks. In the end I took a poo sample to the Dr and they phoned me the same day to say I had food poisoning and there was a prescription waiting for me. Since then I haven't been back and also they only received 2 stars from the environmental health inspection so that shows that looks aren't always what they seem!!

The Dr said my symptoms lasted for so long because I have IBS and it reacted badly to the infection that was in my guts.
It took about a month to calm down properly and I lost shed loads of weight through it.

Yup, it was horrible, I missed 2 days off work because I was so ill, vomiting, etc, not very nice. I had terrible stomach cramps too and my body felt run down and then I was so tired for about a week after. It drains the life out of you. Mine was caused by chicken purchased from a sandwich shop, I never ate there again!!

Mia, you can get food poisoning from things other than meat, rice is a well known cause of it too.

Oh yeah! I have had food poisoning several times and it was HORRIBLE! The first time was when I ate a sausage breakfast biscuit in the middle of moving from Virginia to New York on the interstate. I threw up like crazy but thankfully, once that was over, I felt immediately better. The second time was when I was IN New York (Staten Island) and some jerk idiot didn't wash his hands when making a pizza pie and I got sick for days.

I think one of the last times I had food poisoning was eating some spoiled salmon spread from a supermarket. Both me and my Dad got atrociously sick but my Mom didn't, interestingly enough, because she put some raw garlic on her food, like she always did. Thank God, I haven't had food poisoning in more than 10 years I think!

I have and it was terrible,it led to blood poisoning because the poison apparently leaked into my system and I was seriously ill for a while.I have never proven what caused it but I believe it was bad hygeine in a fish and chip shop where I bought some chips the day before...I had to take 8 steroids a day for a week! And I wasn't completely well for a few months after that...not fun!

I've probably had food poisoning many times over the years and not realized it at the time. Cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, feeling like crap for a day. I think it mostly came from the previous night's meal and I forgot to check the expiration date on an ingredient, or just decided to chance it. (No, I was a lot more careful about this at work!)

Once, i cannot remember what caused it, but it's pretty bad.....i have had stomach aches before but this is very different. It hangs on and anything you drink or eat will make you sick still even water.......if you don't throw up, you will have diarrhea, and then you feel so sick like you have a fever and every thing seems hopeless. Food poisoning is the worst thing to get. When it happened to me I thought I was dying, cause like I said I had stomach aches, threw up from time to time and had the "runs" too, but this is like the Christmas of all stomach ailments.

Yes, and it was so bad that I had to be hospitalized for 2 or 3 days. What caused it? I ate some chicken that had been left out over night. Did I know that the chicken had been left out over night? Unfortunately I did. However, I was child then, and even though we refrigerated food in our house, I didn't know I would get as sick as I did eating that chicken!

Yes I had food poisoning usually overseas. My worst case was a week in bed on liquids with a high temperature.

Yes, Italian Sausage from a high end pizza (not a chain place). I was in the hospital for 3 days! The first 2 were a blur, but the 3rd was just to get me re-hydrated. It came over me about 12 hours after eating it, but it hit me like a ton of bricks. Over the course of 10 minutes, I went from being fine to turning white as a ghost, pooping myself, and vomiting everywhere! I was raced to the hospital in the back of my buddies truck (he did not want the vomit in his truck, he he).
