The SL is very much worth the upgrade, particularly if you opt for the convenience and audio packages if you're into cool gadgets and extras. The intelligent key (keyless entry/start) and bluetooth phone systems are great, particularly for a car in this class, and the CVT is very nice.

The Versa feels like a much more expensive car than it is. It's not nearly as boring or hideous as one reviewer here has mentioned.

A Mazda 3 Hatchback looks 10 times nicer but it also cost about 5K more, i personally don't like the design of the car but it does have a decent looking interior, only 122HP so power & torque is non-existent, for only 14K its cheap if your a college student or work a part time job etc.

I'll rather get a Toyota Yaris, its cheaper and gets better MPG for that price.

I have test driven all of the models.

What Works:
Class-leading interior and cargo space, very high quality of interior materials, lots of bells and whistles for the money, simple but attractive control layout, comfortable rear seat.

What Needs Work:
Noisy powertrain at high revs, vague steering, less than athletic handling.

Bottom Line:
Commuting in comfort for four full-size adults, as long as the road to work is straight.

It all depends on what you need:
The Versa is an acceptably comfortable cruiser. As a commuter car, you couldn't find a nicer cockpit to stow passengers, but forget about running the canyons quickly. For its price, the list of equipment is hard to beat, and it's put together with higher-quality materials than recent bottom-end Nissans. Except for its rather pedestrian dynamics, it's a substantial banquet of goodness in a category that used to be as rewarding as a crust of bread.

May your choice be the best.

yaris is garbage it looks like an egg with wheels, plus is a freakin echo, they just change the name to yaris.

get the SL for couple of grand more, you get alloy wheels, 6cd with aux, 6 way adjustable seats, cvt, which get better gas mileage, and is also a 5 star crash test rating for front, rear and side impact
