Surprisingly, there are more banks out there that do not than you can ever imagine. They all have different account types...some with interest and some without.

I've not seen a bank that doesn't offer non-interest bearing checking accounts. I have personally worked at 2 major banks, and both offer checking accounts that pay interest and also accounts that do not pay interest.
Typically, checking accounts that pay interest have higher balance requirements to avoid maintenance fees. Non-interesting bearing accounts are usually advertised as "Free" or "Free with direct deposit."
Most banks offer 3 to 6 types of personal checking accounts with different requirements. Check with your local banks to find out what they offer.

Many checking accounts at banks these days do NOT earn interest anymore.
If you want interest on a checking account, smaller banks and pretty much all credit unions will give interest on checking.

Checking accounts don't earn interest EVER, at any bank, anywhere. If you want an interest bearing account, you need to get a SAVINGS account.
