I think the horse carriage rides are very romantic, as is a stroll by the lake. There are plenty of great romantic restaurants as well. My favorite is the Everest (40th floor of the chicago trade building). I would say its the most romantic restaurant in Chicago, has excellent food, but is pretty pricey!

Don't go to Navy Pier! It's corny and touristy. Go to the John Hancock's (Main Building Structure in Chicago) Signature Room 96th floor, you get spectacular views of the city, you would only see if u were in a plane! Had my wedding there, not the greatest food, go there for a drink after dinner. Go to a concert and the Millenium Park downtown Chicago, they are free in the summer. You didn't mention when you were going?? RU a sports fan, go see a Cubs game walk around Wrigleyville. Take a nice walk on the lake great views off of North ave. beach. Look at this website will help you with where good resturants are and other things to do:

You could walk along the lake front after watching the fire works at Navy Pier (on Wednesday or Saturday), or you could visit the Signature Lounge during a weekday looking atop the city and having a drink in an intimate setting. It all depends on what you are interested in, a get away to a nice hotel downtown and catching a live jazz performance could prove romantic as well.

I agree with the carriage rides. I went to Chicago on my honeymoon and it was a beautiful ride, especially at night. We also went to Second City theater, which while it's all stand-up, laughing together is romantic, at least to me. :)
