Some people say it's your birthday, some say it's the end of the month. Since it only has a month\year on the sticker does that mean you really have till the end of the month? You wouldn't get pulled over right?

It depends on what state you live in. In my state they expire on the birthday, I lived in VA and it was a year from the original registration date. I found a web site that you can choose your state and get DMV information.

Most likely the only way an officer will know is if you get pulled over and they run your tag. I can't imagine them trying to kill time buy just running people's tags to see if they have already expired.

In Arkansas, they expire one year from the date obtained. The plate only has a month/year sticker. Not likely to get pulled over for an expiration check, but, if you are pulled over, they can site you for expired tags. Most people get caught here during the alcohol checkpoint days. They check all the info on your drivers license, registration and insurance.

In AZ, some tags expire on the 15th of the month, although the tags only show a year and month. If you are "lucky" enough to have tags that expire on the 15th, you are driving an unregistered vehicle after the 15th day of the month. Normally, the tags are good through the last day of the month.
