Ok, i went to use my machine and realised it was broken....temperature dial not working so went out that day and dought a new one outright, next day delivery. i thought i would have another look at the old washer to see what could be done, then realised that the dial and button had somehow come out of its socket and with some pulling i fixed it!!
i no longer need the new one...what are my rights? can i get refund?

Under the U.K Sale of Goods and Services Regulations (1982), no vendor is obliged to accept the return of an item, just because you don't want it. You can only insist on returning it, if it is faulty or incorrectly advertised
However, some retailers do operate a 'no quibble' money back guarantee, if the item is returned within 14 days. Check with the shop.
But remember, they don't HAVE to take it back - they just might. It's your mistake, not theirs...

Look at your terms and conditions. It is usually on the receipt. Some distributors have 28 days return policy in case you change your mind. Call the shop you bought it from.
Worst case scenario do a couple of washes then open the back panel pull any wire put the panel back on then call them and say it's faulty.

Of course. If u just bought the washer then, it should still be under the limited warranty, which are usually 30-90 days. If u purchased an extended warranty those are good for about a year or two depending on your plan. Sears is very good for honoring warranties and such. However, if you got your washer as a used item, then basically u bought it "as is". And youre stuck with it. Find out your store's return policy.

It would depend on the return policy of the store, if they refuse a full refund. Ask for a copy of the policy, read and see if products and be returned for a full refund after opening.

You are not entitled to a refund just because you have changed your mind, unless it is not working or of merchantable quality, but you can certainly ask politely, but it is up to the retailer to decide to refund

You can go see the manager of the store and throw yourself on his/her mercy, however you bought and had delivered and installed a new machine, so the responsibility is really yours so why should their business suffer a financial loss for your actions.
Why not take this golden opportunity to change your perspective on life to actuallly take some responsibility for your own self and your actions?

If you bought it on-line or over the phone it should be covered by the long distance selling regulations which means you have 7 days to return it - although they'll probably charge you for pick up. If you bought it in person you'll need to check with the store.

yes you can get a refund if it is unpacked and you unpacked it yourself.....
contact the company that you got it from telling them that it is marked and that you expected a new machine not a graded machine, ask them for a full refund.....
now the dodgy bit...... get a pointed knife and scratch the FRONT outer casing lightly but enough to notice.
It then effectivly becomes damaged goods and you are entitled to a refund.
Dont tell them you scratched it though LOL...
regards best of luck PJ

realistically you dont have any rights cos it was your mistake BUT the manager of the store has the descretion to either give you a gift voucher to the value of the goods or swap it to goods to the value of. if he/she wants to be arrogant and to policy then he can refuse to do anything for you. although this is sometimes bad customer service, bad customer service is against all companies policies so hence they will do somethng for you to keep your custom!!!!!

You have no chance. Unless it had a serious fault it's yours. The store is under no obligation to take it back simply because you no longer want it.
