In NYC, about 8.3 million and growing. The city should have 10 million people by the year 2020. As far as New York State, it's growing a lot slower than the rest of the county. Today it's 19 million. Yet over the last 20 years, NYS has lost three US Congressional seats. Reason other regions, such as Nevada, Arizona, Texas, are growing so fast, it's taken congressional seats from NYS since Congress will always have 435 house of representatives.
