I hav notice that there are many people that are asking about how they can send soldiers items, but no one ask is there a way that normal people can talk to soldiers? I think if they they had someone they could talk to maybe they would have something else to think about beside the war and have a better day.

It can be hard to talk (email) to the Soldiers. They enjoy talking about their children's accomplishments. But they are advised against talking about family and stuff like that. With all the weirdos out there, they have no idea who they are talking to and giving information to.

There are alot of Soldiers on myspace and facebook that you can talk to.

There are more soldiers that have access to internet than you think. I was sometimes surprised where I was able to get access. Unfortunately, getting the free time to use it is one thing, then you usually have to wait to use a computer and then you have a time limit. What little time I had was used to email family and friends. But this is my experience. I am a combat Soldier who spent a lot of time outside the base camp. There are a lot of support Soldiers (administration, mechanics, logistics, supply, intelligence, medics, etc) who spend the greater majority of their tour on base camps and have a bit more free time. Some Soldiers even have jobs that have internet on thier computers. When I left FOB Sykes a little over a year ago, they began offering WiFi access in your living areas. Camp Liberty had it awhile before that.

Basically there are a lot of Soldiers with internet access and many who have the time and resources to use it. Just like what was mentioned before, many Soldiers can be found on MySpace as well as military chat rooms on services like Yahoo chat.

The best way is to write them letters. Many don't have a lot of access to phone or internet but they do get their mail regularily. Check the anysoldier.com website for addresses of soldiers who have posted their addresses to recieve mail. When mail arrives it is good for all of them to get something from home. Some have more family than others and naturally get mail every time but others have fewer people to write them and get little or no mail.

We must not distract a soldier from his/her mission. We can send them loving gifts in the mail, but to chat, no. They need to FOCUS on the war, not forget about it. If they forget, America loses. When they're done with their job, is when we will see them home again, and that is the time to give our soldiers the physical love from us that they deserve.

Well, that is a wonderful idea, but many soldiers don't have easy access to phones. When they do get phone time, they call their families. Also, it costs them money to call home...they have to use phone cards. I commend you for your concern about our soldiers mental well being!

I'm so against the war... and I really think Bush is like satan,, . But I have friends and relatives over in Iraq. So I rant here on the internet but when I talk to sodiers I tone it way down. I just tell them I think we should get out of there , most agree. I know they have seen grusome things and lost friends . in horrible hell of war.. we need to help them deal with it. Better than we did with the Vietnam vets,, Even if I'm against this war I support the troops who are doing their job,.
