If it came straight down to military capacity not including nuclear or weapons of mass destruction the US would wipe them out. The US is ahead by at least a decade in military technology. Russia has most of it's fleet in dock just rusting and it's army and air force is outdated and just a shadow of what it used to be. The US would destroy them simply by using our superior air force. We have more than twice their aircraft all of which is far superior. We would bomb the living crap out of them and then use our navy to transport our tanks and men either from England or Alaska if not both. Now if Russia was what it was during the cold war it would be a MUCH harder war to win. But we all know it would end up in a nuclear war among the two countries with the most nukes in the world.

If it doesn't go nuclear, the US more then likely.

Russia would have problems paying for the war currently. With a lot of the other areas of the old USSR gone, they do not have all the resources they had.

Currently, a lot of their military is in disarray, they are rebuilding, but not up to full strength yet. A lot of their assets from the USSR period were left in what in now other countries as well.

Even if their navy were build back up, they couldn't stand to long against the US Navy.

So if it were just a straight up fight, the US in my opinion.

In what contest? war? It would cost BOTH sides in lives, destruction and the ruin of both economies, leading to many years of poverty.

And yes, it would be nuclear, eventually. What do you think the losing side would do? War is not a football game.

Better we get along and develop healthy trade with each other, to our mutual benefit.

US Army can't win Iraqi Resistance. Too weak?

Guess where Iraqi generals and officers (who organized the resistance) studied the tactics that already crushed Napoleon and Hitler?

We already had 50 years of it. We won, they lost. Russia is a shadow of it's glory days.
