Have your husband hold her head while you rub the paste on her eyes, the doctor should be able to tell the difference between pinkeye and allergies so it probably is pink eye...If you can't get the antibiotics on her eyes call your doctor tell him whats going on and ask for an antibiotic that you can give her orally.

This sounds worse than it is, but you can have both hands free to put the ointment in her eyes. Put a blanket on the floor and put her on it. Squat and straddle her, no weight of course, with her head between your knees where she cannot move her head. She will not be able to put her arms up to her face because your behind will be in the way. Then you can pull down the lower eyelid and put a thin stream of the ointment on the inside of the lower lid. She will not like it, but it does not hurt her, and you will not have to fight with her to do this.

i put a simple latex glove on my hand and apply the ointment into the outer edges of the eye while the child is sleeping.
usually only requires 2 application within 24 hour cycle, that should work okay for your baby while she's sleeping ..... her eye will move around enough to spread the ointment.
much easier than fighting with her.
good luck

Eye drops are more accessible for treatment of eye infection for infants but ointment lasts in the eyes for longer duration. Please ask the pharmacist to give you the eye drops form of that antibiotic and start putting them to the baby's eyes frequently almost 8 times daily. Good luck.

She's like a 12 pound infant, you can make her be still. Especially if its for her own good. Have someone hold her head still while you use a clean finger, or qtip to swab the ointment into her eye.
Its IMPOSSIBLE for infants to have allergies. They do not possess the sinuses, or the immune responses responsible for causing allergies. Thats why the doctor knows its an infection and not allergies.
