A MILE is 5280 feet (not 5285) and Cruising altitude for a jet airliner is around 30,000 to 40,000ft

SO...
30,000ft / 5280 = 5.681 miles
35,000ft / 5280 = 6.268 miles
40,000ft / 5280 = 7.575 miles

Well 1 mile = 5 280 ft.
Most small private planes generally flight at about 1500-2500 ft and up. Commercial airlines are usually about 30,000 ft / 6 miles roughly.

It's simple;

1 mile = 1760 yards x 3 = 5,280 feets

1/2 mile = 880 yards x 3 = 2,640 feets

1/4 mile = 440 yards x 3 = 1,320 feets

1/8 mile = 220 yards x 3 = 660 feets

Therefore: every thousand feet divided by 1760 yards x 3 = 5280 feets. You'll get the height in mile. e.g. Altitude 6000 feets. Divided by 5280 feets. The answer 1.1363636 miles.

Normally 737 Jet Airlines fly at altitude 40,000 feets. Therefore in miles; 40000 divided by 5280 feets = 7.5757575 miles above sea level.

Around two miles. A mile is 5280 feet. So cruising at 11,000 feet puts you a little more than two miles up.

(I'm not actually sure what cruising altitude is, but I thought that was around the number I'd hear a pilot announce on an airline.)

About 35,000- 45,000 feet......if a mile is 5,285 feet you do the math. The Byrds in the 70s did a song called "Eight Miles High"
