All the other suggestions of finding a new doctor are correct. I would also document date and time of incidences that have occurred and then contact the Medical Board in your state. Just google Medical Board of (then your state name). There will be a section where you can file a complaint.

Ask your father what he would like to do, and include him in your decision to file a complaint. Good luck

My parents have had similar experiences, and I was more worried about it than my parents. Once was when my mom was hospitalized, and I just made sure I was there every time the doctors came and asked very detailed questions when they came. It seemed to do the trick, they were basically just being lazy and my mom was intimidated by the doctors. In my dad's case, it was truly life-threatening and I just dragged him to the emergency room. If we hadn't gone when we did, he could have gone into diabetic shock and slipped into a coma or worse. You can't mess around with serious medical conditions!

Change doctors ASAP. Your dad does not have to put up with this. Also if he won't change docs or needs help quicker he needs to call the docs office up and ask to speak to the docs nurse and tell her what he needs etc. Usually the nurses are the ones who make the appointments with the specialists etc.

you know........ there has got to be some government agency that oversees doctors. i have had terrible doctors in the past. they have walked out on me the in exam room. even made me cry. i could go on and on.

a friend of mine went to school to be a nurse and she said they STRESSED "you should always be professional and courteous at all times, never make comments or be mean.
i asked her if i threatened to sue them if she thought they may change their attitude.... she said yes.

but where can we complain or file a grievance?

i say.... threaten this doctor and in the mean time start looking for another one. and also do a search on how to complain about doctors.

sorry i couldn't be more helpful! good luck

who pays who? thats right, you pay the doctor! when you pay somebody for a service and he or she fails to live up to your standards, what do you do? thats right, you fire them! so if your present doctor is a quack, them for heaven's sake, fire him or her and get a new one.
