This is a difficult subject, and even as a strong Christian I sometimes find it hard to figure out where to come down on this one.
So let me ramble amoment or two before getting to my point:
In cases of rape/incest/etc, even if you say you can give the child to adoption and garentee a goodhome is it fair to ask the mother to go through the pregnancy with a constant living reminder of horrible incident?
Of course you could say that its not the baby's falt though, but when does it become a baby? the catholic church teaches one view, and yet according to traditional Jewish philosiphy (and I don't want to speak for Jews in general, but philisophically speaking) it is not a baby until birth. And yet expectant mothers treat thier stomarchs as babies, not extra cells just hanging around. Difficult to determine.
So what am I getting at? The serious problem with abortion in the U.S. today is that it is used as a method of birth control. If you don't think it is, you are seriously delluding yourself and need to visit an abortion clinic, or even a Planned Parenthood kiosk. Abortion should not be so readily on hand, it encourages a culture of promiscuity, especially in the youth. And even if you want to tell me to keep my morals out of your bedroom, okay, but no one can deny the promiscuity causes health risks, both physically, and emotionally.
Aside fromt that, I sure don't have the answer.

most cities have health departments where you can go in and get a free bag of condoms whenever you like no questions asked. they also offer VERY cheap pap test and birthcontrol...i paid $9 for a year supply of BC. most schools institute some sort of sex-ed and most people educated or uneducated know what it takes to/not to get pregnant......its a matter of people knowing they have a way out. I'm too lazy make sure i dont get pregnant so what have an abortion. my sleezy boyfriend wouldnt wear a condom oh well theres always abortion. if it wasnt so easy to just go out and get one for any reason or no reason, maybe people wouldnt look at it as a solution long before they need a solution....i once heard a girl say " i dont care if iget preg. thats what abortions are for" the problem is people are misguided on abortions.
you can provide all the alternatives, precautions, and education you want but you cant change the people getting them.

Whenever abortion is allowed, it is always a serious problem, especially for the unborn child whose tiny voice was not heard or whose desire for life was not considered.
The upside of this serious problem is that fewer and fewer doctors are willing to perform abortions. Before ultrasounds, before we were able to see a baby suck its thumb in the mother's womb, many so-called experts considered an unborn child a blob of tissue. With the help of ultrasounds we now know that the unborn child is anything BUT a simple blob of tissue. It is as alive as any one of us walking around. They have even performed surgeries on unborn children right in the womb. That shows you just how important saving an unborn child is. Having a human being die at the hands of a doctor who is supposed to help sustain and preserve life has had severe emotional consequences for most doctors. Most just don't want that kind of blood on their hands.
Anyone who agrees that aborting an unborn child is a good thing, has in my opinion a very dark heart.

With over 800,000 abortions so far this year, I'd have to say, yes...abortion is a VERY serious problem.
Hard to imagine, 800,000 couples having sex with no intention of having a child.
Almost anywhere in the United States, you can walk into your local health department and pick up some free birth control. Heck, we give it to kids in high school, and the parents never have to know...
So, what is the excuse?
Is it that these people don't know where babies come from?
Or, is it that we have glorified sex to the point that people think they can't live without it?
I can remember when calling a girl a sl*t was fighting words...today they wear the name proudly on their t-shirts.
Perhaps a return to virtue? Family values?
Maybe...just maybe...
we really do
need
God!!

Militant apathy? Do you have any idea what you're saying?
Abortion isn't a problem. It's the termination of genetic material with the hypothetical potential to become human under certain circumstances. So is every instance of a human sperm or egg being allowed to die. And there is absolutely no connection between the number of abortions performed and the level of apathy towards your imaginary friend.

Its both a symptom of more severe problems and a solution to them. It has nothing at all to do with any god in any way.
Abusive relationships, rape, incest, poverty, ill/no education, illness, and terrible accidents are all causes of abortion. Until those problems are solved, abortion is needed.
The people that say it isn't also usually aren't willing to put their money and time where the problems are to solve them. They just want to preach about the way they THINK life should be whether it has to do with reality or not.

Abortion is a serious problem in that kids are not properly educated about sex and pregnancy and people do not have adequate access to birth control.
We could virtually eliminate the demand for abortions in this country if we educated people and provided birth control. It wouldn't even matter whether abortion was moral or not if no one ever had an unwanted pregnancy. If nothing else, think of the money it would save on medicaid and welfare to the children of those who cannot afford them.
Prevention is the solution.

Abortion is nothing new it has been going on for thousands of years and if you think its an event related only to the latter part of the 20th century and the start of the 21st century then you are ignorant.
The fact is that no matter if you are pro-life or pro-choice you should support abortion clinics because its better for someone to get a safe abortion then going to some back street quack or getting out a coat hanger.

There are several problems with it:
1. It needs to be a safe option for those that need it; i.e. safe physically and mentally
2. It is the subject of people trying to legally enforce their morals on the rest of society
3. It is used as a substitute for safer and less harmful contraceptives. (this is probably a result of lack of education)

The abortion law as it stands now is fine. It's way before a baby becomes self-aware or even mildly developed. You can say life begins at conception, sure, but why can't you just go back farther and say life begins with the parents' conception, because they're the ones housing the cells to create people. By that logic, every single sperm and egg cell in existence needs to be saved because it could be a potential child. It's just not going to happen. Aborting in the later part of the pregnancy is definitely murder because you're killing a human being with a mind, but early on, when the zygote is nothing more than a mistake, I don't see a loss.
