Run the steak under hot water in the sink. Really hot water. Or throw it in the microwave and press defrost. But run it under hot water. It should defrost in about 10 minutes

Set the steak under running cold water. It will defrost faster and safer than using hot water and won't dry out or partially cook like it will in the microwave.

no microwave. in a bowl of cold, not hot water & keep flipping it in the bowl. microwaves & hot water start to cook the edges of the steak & leave the middle frozen & it just doesn't turn out right.

yes microwaves are the fastest and the safest way. your microwave may even have a "quick defrost" button (mine does!) just be sure you are indeed using the "defrost" setting because just nuking it may cook it or cause you all sorts of other trouble. i can't think of any other fast, safe ways.

Put it in a pan of cold water (in a package or a ziplock bag)
This is what restaraunts do in a pinch.

Microwwaves will begin to cook the steak and give it a poor flavor if you're not careful.

NEVER in the microwave.
If you have a ziplock bag put it in it. Then place the bag in hot water from the tap. change the water ever 5 min. This should take about 20 min. total.

In a bowl of cold water. Microwave has a nasty habit of making them tough.
