The elderly are a rich resource of wisdom for the young. They should stay involved with people and events and actively provide guidance.

some are college professors, some are walmart greeters, some are psychiatrists, some are gardners. the list goes on and on and on.
whether or not a woman has grandchildren really doesn't change her role in society. it changes her role in her family though. typically grandmothers are there to babysit and help out when needed, and they usually love being involved this way.

As far as a grandmother's role is concerned, a grandmother should be active in her grandchildren's live. She should provide emotional support to her children and grandchildren, and love them without limits. But, she should also be willing to give them their own space and not be an enabler.
A grandmother should live her life in such a way that her children and grandchildren will see the love of Jesus in her heart, and they will know that it is real and will want it in their own lives. She should NEVER knowingly show preference to one child over another.
My greatest prayer for my children and grandchildren is that they will all accept Jesus as their Saviour and we will all have a fabulous reunion someday with our Lord in heaven.
Pray for our grandchildren. Their salvation is all that matters.

She plays the same role as the Grandfather in society. but in a different way. She is full of homemade recipes, that can go a long way in the preparation of food. She is the one who can bring love into a house of despair and light it up with brightness.

My grandmother was the center of our family and we have a big family, all holidays, all birthday, everything center around her, and her home. Her word was heeded just as Gospel, not out of fear, but because we knew no one in this world loved us as she did. I cant imagine a world without them. I lost my on Christmas eve several years ago, but we know she had Christmas in heaven.

She should....as should the grandfather.
Unfortunately in our society, old people get pushed under the rug and deemed "useless".
People have great respect for their old people in Europe from what I hear.

Love and guidance. Always be there when mum and dad cannot be there. And most importantly mind our own business.
