Perhaps your mom felt her advice was good for you and she knew your dad would disapprove.
I don't know how old you are or what she exactly meant by a singles show so it is difficult to provide a better answer.

Your mom loves you and I am certain that your happiness was a heart. As far as the denial, I believe it's because she and your dad think differently about things and perhaps was embarrassed or knew it might anger him?
You know them better than we do.

It sounds like your mum told you to do something that your pop did not approve of and then she denied the whole thing.
When you two are alone, ask her why she did that.
Next time get advise from your dad.

Dont be harsh on your mum. You and your mum should be friends. May be she was trying to help you. Why get your dad into it. Dads never understand and are less compassionate. Women have more love and compassion and kindness. Talk about it to your mum and understand each other.

Maybe your Mom truly didn't realize what you were asking. Just try to be clearer and make sure not to play one parent against the other. If you need to ask permission about something, try to ask when both parents are present.
Communication is the key.

Your mother wants to see you paired off, but doesn't want your Dad to know how badly she wants you paired off, and how she's going about achieving this. She probably means the best for you, but there are such things as boundaries.

maybe your dad is not as broadminded as your mum or maybe she was embarrassed to admit it, or perhaps she was having what my mum called a C.r.a.f.t moment ( can't remember a flipping thing) why don't you ask your mum why she did this I'm sure there is a good reason why she said it.

Take her to the side and ask her why she lied. Tell her you'll give her a chance to tell the truth, but you won't lie to your father for her. If she won't tell the truth, then go tell your father.
