Homosexuality isn't what God intended!! Therefore, that is why HE doesn't approve! HE intended MAN and WOMAN to be together intimately...not to have SAME SEX relationships!

It goes against the natural law he set in place and is a perversion of what he created that is male and female. While ole' red eyes is right about the OT laws it is reiterated in the NT. Spider is wrong as well. The Bible speaks of the homosexual offender not to mention "the abusers of self" so lesbians are not off the hook (sorry iamalesbian). I realize that this can be interpreted as anything that harms the body and I agree with this thought. Everyone wants to pick on the homosexual and yet they go on stuffing their face or slogging back alcohol and drugs.

I am almost tired of saying this but, Homosexuality is no better or worse than any other sin. God punishes all the same because it is an equal offense to him.

As for Jesus never condemning homosexuality I think that is a bit of a stretch. Jesus came to save, not condemn. Every time he came across a sinner we see he forgave them and told them to sin no more. The closest we see him to condemning anyone would be the religous leaders of the day and his own followers when they stepped out of line. When he comes again it will be for judgment and no one will be immune.

You are clearly asking WHY the Abrahamic god disapproves of homosexuality, not IF he disapproves. Thus I am baffled by the references to the scriptures which simply state that indeed he DOES disapprove - as if we didn't know,. and as if this had anything to do with your question!

(And by the way, "sodomy" is not "an old word" for homosexuality.)

From a previous answer to the same question:

You are pointing to a fundamental flaw in theological thinking. If believers are to be consistent, they can only answer that their god wanted it that way, and therefore that's all the reason needed - and that's all the reason forthcoming. There are no other coherent arguments.

The problem is that once they own up to this, the whole issue of just what is (religiously) moral becomes a meaningless laundry list of taboos with nothing to back them save the mysterious "will of the lord."

Practically speaking of course, believers cherry-pick and "re-interpret" what they deem are "musts." And sometimes this is quite to the good of all. For example, except in the case of the most pathological fanatics, the command to "honor" your parents becomes hot air when there's child abuse.

However, there are scriptural prescriptions that fit in quite nicely with the basest prejudices of the believer. In these cases the believer is "convinced" of the "absolute truth" of the literal rendition of the primitive text.

1. It is non-reproductive.
2. It is against the natural use of the body.
3. It spreads incurable disease.
4. It promotes a lascivious lifestyle. Senator Craig is a good example of that... just hook up with a complete stranger in an airport bathroom... sheesh!
5. It is ranked up there with beastiality, rape and child molestation.
6. It (as all sin does) hardens the heart against God.
7. It does not provide the family relationship that a man and woman could offer (not that all couples do) for children.
8. God does not need our approval of His commandments... if He commands it then who are we to question Him?
9. In history societies that openly accept homosexuality soon end up falling.
10. Hmmm, let's see... just the mental visualizations of homosexual acts... is enough to make one want to grab a barf bag. I can't even describe it on this forum.
11. Homosexuality was condemned in both Old and New Testament, even for women with women... saying they left the natural use of the body, men with men doing that which was unseemly (ugly, unappropriate), even the women leaving the natural use of their bodies burning with lust for one another.

He created things to be a certain way. Sin entered in, and we began to change what uses things have. If homosexuals are born that way, then they are merely another evidence of sin in us. I would liken homosexuality as I would any other birth defect. The next time you see a person who was born with a disability realize that they also bear an outward appearance of sin ( don't be harsh with me on my opinion, I am Bisexual, I bear the mark of sin myself).

What people are doing, especially many, many Christians, is acting like certain sins are what Jesus died for. It wasn't in his nature to sin. That nature is what we Christians want from God; sinlessness. He did not only die for specific sins, but also died with the intent of making us sinless too. And so we shall!

I am persuaded that birth defects, as such I have, will not appear in heaven; God will make us whole; perfect, and incorruptible.

So the condition will be gone, and there won't be a life of this nature in eternity. So the 'why' isn't really important, it's the 'where it's going to go' that is important.

Because he says so in his Word the Bible even so, there are people who say that it is not wrong or it is not mentioned in the Bible but only the opinion of some Christians and that God made them that way and that it is only the males that are spoken of as it being wrong for them, but the Bible speaks a different story(Romans1:26-29)Is it not God's right to say what is or is not natural?

It's all due to people's inbuilt preferences and prejudices, because plenty of people are Christians and think that homosexuality is perfectly OK in the eyes of God.

That is very simple. In Genesis, God said, "Let us create man in our image." And then it says, "God created man in His image . . .male and female he created them." The image of God is NOT just what we look like. It is also aspects of our personalities. And this is the kicker. God is not MALE or FEMALE!!! God created maleness and femaleness for the benefit of humanity. Here is what I mean. God to parts of His image and molded them into clay and called them "man". Then, God took different aspects of Himself, combined it with a rib from the man and create "woman."

WHY? To teach us the value of balance and relationships. When a man and woman come together and become one flesh, they are complete, exemplifying the image of God.

So is it wrong to say God is a dude? No. But it is also NOT WRONG to refer to the Goddess. Both are correct and incorrect at the same time. The creator is ABOVE gender. Gender is a concept, like time, which was created for our benefit.

Interestingly enough, it just seems to be MALE homosexuality that is condemned in the Bible. Lesbianism isn't even mentioned.

Let's see, I'm not a Christian but I think I can field this.

a) Leviticus (nevermind that the same section also tells you to not eat shellfish or wear clothes of mixed fabric, we like to pick and mix)
b) Paul's writings (Paul was a complete homophobe), especially Corinthians.

As far as I know, Jesus never said anything about homosexuality.
