My church doesn't practice excommunication. That would be a Catholic thing. The gay question, I will just have to wait and see. I have two boys, and although they both are very masculine and full of testosterone, I guess anything is possible. At 6 foot 4 225 pounds I know that neither one of them would get much guff from society about it though. Good question.

The ONLY thing I can do is "Bring him up in the mental regulating of Jehovah". In other words, teach him carefully right from wrong "from infancy" and instill in him not only strong moral values, but also the penalty for turning your back on God. Also, and this is not politically correct but I don't care, monitor closely who he or she associates with, who their friends are, and also what they do and watch. These factors (peer pressure) have more to do with mental formation than people think. After the child is an adult however there is nothing more I can do.
If after all that effort if they still leave and live a lifestyle that is unacceptable to Jehovah and myself, I will stick to my guns and let them suffer the consequences of their own actions. They are on their own untlil they correct their actions, just as I was on my own when my actions were bad. Growing up sucks sometimes

We are United Methodist so "leaving the church" doesn't carry the same weight of fear that the Catholic belief system does. Secondly I would tell him that I love him and that this is not the life style that I would have chosen for him. I would also ask him if he was able to handle the ridicule and the hardships of the life he has chosen. Then I would pray for him regularly like I already do.

If my child does either one of these things I'll cross that bridge when I get to It. I do know one thing though, I would ask my Pastor and my congregation for advice, Not yahoo Q/A. Why are there so many What If, Lets just say, or Would you do this questions directed at Christians?

Most children leave the church during their teen years and that is not right but i wouldnt stop them i would continue to do daily devotional with my family and pray for them with out ceasing i would not change my home or church life for them and they would see that they were meant to continue in the church family and come back this has happened to several members of our church family and they always come back to the flock sooner or later. If my child told me he was gay i wouldnt like it as it is a sin but i wouldnt bar him from church or our family i would try to understand why they picked this lifestyle and i would try to be a understanding parent and i would pray to our lord and savior to us thru this no matter what...

You teach your kids the right things to do and instill morals when they are young and when they get older they make their own decisions. All you can do is pray for them.
