Are the survivors of hurricane Katrina just whining? Or, are they being treated differently because many are black? Did FEMA screw up? Did they help enough? Were funds disbersed unfairly? Or, were funds used wrongly by the survivors? You have heard of hurricane hugo, I am sure, as well as others that have hit the Atlantic coast, did those places have similar problems after the storms? Or, is it that our government cares more about what other countries think of us than it's own people who were born and raised here? Should our government keep letting in foreigners and give them money to start here, should we still be in Iraq, should we let people sneak over the borders to come here, should we be helping other countries when a sunami hits them? What about our own people that are good and deserve help here in this country (USA)? (I am not talking about the ones who live here who are lazy, alcoholics or drug addicts, etc.)

To Scotty... foreigners that come here can get help in the way of food stamps, cash, medical, grants, loans, wic, etc... and if you have a visa, you can get money for just having a visa and/or for going to college here on a visa (my brother's ex wife's family got money for these things when they came from the Ukraine, spelling?)

The sad truth is that FEMA was run by a guy who was granted his post as a political favor, not because he was good at what he did. In fact, he was awful at what he did.

In my professional experience, I've worked with logistics and the movement of MANY things to different places. While initially there were a lot of challenges to overcome (especially with the flooding), there's no excuse for not having trucks ready to roll as soon as the floodwaters receded. The images of people doing what they were told -- waiting at the Superdome or at the Morial Convention Center -- and getting NOTHING -- not even information -- is very disheartening to me.

Funds were also used wrongly by survivors. The debit cards issued by FEMA were terribly abused.

I'm curious, though...please point to a program operated by our government that gives foreigners money to start here. I'm not aware of such a program. If one exists, I'm against it. No one gave my family anything when they came over. They made a life for themselves. That's what America is about.

In all fairness, I think that there are SO many poverty-stricken people in New Orleans that our government was simply overwhelmed. The initial response sucked, and a lot of people (myself included) can point to things and say, "This wasn't done right." But no one can say, "This is what OUGHT to have happened."

New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin - Mismanaged some city supplies yet not lots he would have accomplished C.Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco - she owns the national look after, the feds can not command the national look after, she has to request federal information previously they might enter the state. D. George W Bush & his administration - Bush grew to become into not required to do lots for that reason, his admin would have accomplished some issues swifter however the state grew to become into truly in charge to cover this one. E. The voters for "choosing" to stay(maximum did not have the different determination however) - in case you could't be inspired to maintain your self then recover from it, Why is Mississippi and Alabama doing extra constructive at restoration than Louisiana? F. the army Corp of Engineers for not development extra suitable levees - Louisiana has been stealing money from the levee money for one hundred years. there's no surprize that they failed G. not one of the above H. All or lots of the above - basically slightly fault to circulate around right here, maximum is with the Govenor

Send the illegals packing as of yesterday! And, I really think the local governments in LA and MS, along with its people, have had more than adequate time to straighten out their lives. And yet the people of LA elected Nagin once again...pity!

No, yes and no, yes, no, no, yes, yes, yes, absolutely not, it depends on whether or not they have helped us with natural disasters (which most foreign countries do not), what about them? If you mean should our government assist more with the natural citizens of this country, then yes absolutely they should.

You asked way too many questions. You cheated. You are supposed to ask one and get charged five points.

New Orleans got flooded because it is below sea level. Anyone who chooses to live below sea level takes a big risk. People who live in hurricane-prone areas take a risk. Anyone who takes a risk should be prepared to accept the consequences.

We should never elect politicians to office who do not believe in government, or who say they do not believe in government but then proceed to have government subsidize every pet project they like and ignore those they do not like, like the Katrina aftermath.
