It is a very rare event if I print my own. Costs too much in time and material. I have three labs I up load to. On for 20x24s and smaller down to wallets, one for 24x30 and larger and one for all sports and other events like dance schools and proms.
I do have a small portable HP printer that I will occasionally take with me to small events like Christmas party's or b'day parties. BUT again, it costs more than I like and it is sooo slow. Even 60 seconds slows me down. I much prefer uploading to a lab.

When I shoot film, I still go to a lab rather than using one of the one hour photo places. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think labs to a better job, and I have more control over exactly I'm paying for.
As for digital, I do my own printing at home, but then again I have a printer that can get the job done. If I didn't, I would probably utilize a lab or at least some place where I could crop the finished print the way I wanted it.

Although a home printer is nice for a quick fix an image printed at a lab will be higher quality, cheaper and last longer.
There is no need to drive to the lab anymore, upload your images to a lab and they will mail them to you of you can pick them up. I think the lab is easier and better.
I use a pro lab for all my clients prints that is 100% online and samsclub for things I need today.

I only shoot reversal film these days, mainly Velvia.
It gets processed at a pro lab and the transparancies get scanned at home on a film scanner.
I generally don't do prints unless someone asks me for them, at which point I take the transparancies back to the lab for direct optical prints (not the crap scan-and-print 2000dpi stuff that Fuji Frontia machines do).

I am a lab manager, so I print all my film and a majority of my digital at the lab. I do print some at home, though. I have an Epson Picturemate for 4x6, and a Canon for bigger prints.

I wouldn't print on inkjet unless shooting a sports event where I offer on site prints. These days, everything from walmart to costco use chemicaly active photo paper to print. I love the longevity of fuji crystel active photo paper. Inkjet is a joke.

Some Costco labs have good prints, although not pro. A pro lab should be better.
